Job Description
The Manager, Workforce Health & Safety reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Manager, Workforce Health & Safetyprovides leadership and operational/program oversight of the Workforce Health and Safety team within a designated geographic region or a specified business unit(s) of Northwestern Medicine.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the health, safety, and well-being initiatives of the NM Workforce in designated geographic region or business unit(s) and provides oversite on assigned systemwide programs and initiatives.
- Manages overall program operations that support the strategic objectives of Workforce Health and Safety. Sets explicit priorities, establishes effective action plans, and anticipates obstacles and alternatives for challenging but realistic work goals.
- Integrates workplace interventions that protect and advance the overall well-being of the workforce.
- Develops and manages processes and systems for collecting, analyzing and reporting data regarding employee injuries, illnesses, and exposures. Reviews employee injury data to prioritize initiatives and implement injury reduction strategies.
- Identifies root causes and risks for the workforce and works collaboratively with NM stakeholders to respond with appropriate policies, process improvements, training and mitigation strategies to ensure a safe work environment for employees, physicians, residents, students, visitors, and other campus partners.
- Monitor regulatory changes, trends, benchmarks and best practices and report findings and recommendations to the Program Director or Director of Workforce Health and Safety.
- Responds thoroughly and promptly to customer needs and actively manages customer/peer relationships. Fosters and maintains positive relationships employees, physicians and all levels of management.
- Assures the department’s adherence to sound financial management practices and all applicable NM financial policies, through the development of conservative budgets and regular, systematic analysis of how funds are used, for both operational activity and capital projects.
- Acts as a change agent to systematically drive and implement change throughout the organization in support of a ‘Fair and Just’ culture
