Amazon Web Services is seeking experienced professionals to help build the world’s premier cloud computing infrastructure. We are looking for Manufacturing Engineers who are capable of operating in a fast paced, ever changing, multi-platform international product development and manufacturing production environment. This position can be based out of Herndon, VA, Austin, TX, Columbus, OH, or Seattle, WA and is expected to work from the office 5 days per week when not traveling
Our Manufacturing Engineers will work closely with our Contract Manufacturers, design vendors, internal Product Development Engineers and other internal business partners to monitor and improve electrical equipment product quality, cost, manufacturability and delivery performance. This role requires the engineer to be a technical contact, take on full ownership of manufacturing process issues and be the driver in understanding root cause of equipment failures and gaps in our suppliers manufacturing processes. This role will also work with supply chain partners and contract manufacturers to improve processes that streamline the end-to-end supply chain, reducing and eliminating points of failure. This role will also be responsible for communicating risks to program managers and leadership to ensure appropriate mitigations can be put in place before they impact our customers. Our Manufacturing Engineers will also drive DFx by taking input from our Contract Manufacturing supply base and drawing from past experience to improve our product designs.
Key job responsibilities
• Liaison between design engineers and contract manufacturers
• Root cause customer impacting issues and drive resolution
• Provide oversight and guidance on line design, process, capital equipment, material planning and training programs for contract manufacturers.
• Work with Contract Manufacturers to drive cycle time improvements leading to realized cost reductions
• Improve processes to simplify and drive efficiencies in the supply chain
• Provide guidance to program management teams and Electrical Solutions leadership to drive strategic business decisions regarding contract manufacturing supply base.
• Work with design engineering to appropriately up-level design documentation
• Perform analyses on various manufacturing models to determine best TCO for AWS
