Nuclear Mechanic Plant Vogtle 3&4
Job Summary : Accomplish mechanical maintenance activities on both non-safety and safety-related components by performance of preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and planned and unplanned corrective maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation of a Nuclear Station. Be available for work when required to ensure an adequate pool of manpower to correct plant problems.
This position may be assigned to a position within the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) that requires response to the station when an emergency is declared. Assignment to one of these positions and a condition of continued employment will be the ability to arrive at the station to perform ERO responsibilities within 60 minutes of notification of an emergency.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
An employee in this classification will normally perform as a Journeyman Mechanic and will use his/her training and knowledge of a broad variety of pumps, motors, valves and other associated skills as called upon. This position will demonstrate proficiency in and qualify to perform mechanical maintenance required for maintenance and repair at a nuclear station at a Journeyman level, including: maintaining and repairing power plant equipment; working on both energized and de-energized equipment; following procedures/prints to install and maintain equipment; assembling and disassembling components using proper rigging and lifting techniques; troubleshooting equipment; and properly using mechanical test equipment. This position is required to maintain proficiency and periodic re-certification is mandatory.
Mechanical responsibilities are to test, repair, maintain, overhaul, and modify all mechanical plant equipment at the highest level of skill in accordance with nuclear procedures.
Accountabilities - Ensure efficient and reliable operation of station equipment through preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting activities on non-safety and safety-related plant equipment. - Perform investigation of failures/deficiencies on plant equipment with Engineering Department and Shop Supervisor and vendors in order to correct problems and improve reliability of plant equipment. - Perform Quality Control (QC) activities. - Participate in the Maintenance Training Program as required. - Continually improve the quality of mechanical maintenance procedures through the established feedback and revision processes. - Assist training as a subject matter expert in reviewing and preparing training materials and mock-ups. - Work shift work in support of maintenance activities as required and the potential to work as a job lead for mechanical maintenance jobs. - Incumbent is accountable for miscellaneous other responsibilities as assigned or required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -( REQUIRED )Two years experience welding small/large bore piping (TIG and Stick)-
Must meet position requirements and demonstrate competency through the established testing procedures. - Ability to utilize computer-based maintenance management system. - Ability to read and follow procedures and mechanical drawings/prints is required. - Ability to use powered and non-powered hand tools proficiently is required. - Ability to plan work to maximize production is required.
Education and Training - High school diploma/GED - Demonstrate concern for safety of self and others - Knowledge and skills to maintain, troubleshoot, install, and repair mechanical /electrical equipment/components with advanced training and knowledge in a recognized area - Good verbal and written communication skills, high level of attention to detail, and able to work efficiently as a member of a team - Accept responsibility for own performance and be adaptable to changing requirements - Conduct task performance evaluations
Must qualify on the MASS pre-employment test
