Job Description

The Research Coordinator is a member of the investigative team conducting a study titled “Outcome Evaluation of a Structured Program of Deep Breathing and Arm Exercises. As the primary data collector for the research site, Coordinator must maintain a comprehensive knowledge of required data elements, comply with accepted standards for performing data collection, and implement data management and quality assurance procedures that ensure maintenance and submission of accurate, timely, complete, and reliable data.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for coordinating the process for obtaining informed consent and enrolling patients in the study through direct contact with patients, families and nursing staff.
- Check for new admissions and screen patients on participating units for inclusion/exclusion criteria.
- Review medical records of study subjects.
- Obtain and document study measurements such as vital capacity, NIF, quantity of secretions, and length of stay.
- Teach patients and families deep breathing and arm exercises and monitor quantity and quality of exercise program.
- Teach nurses and respiratory therapists their roles in the study.
- Collaborate with nurses and respiratory therapists in caring for study patients.
- Maintain active and frequent communication with the principal investigator.
- Maintain study database.
- Support Principal Investigator, with analysis of data.
- Develop procedures to enhance the use of data for tracheostomy patients.
Qualifications
Required
- Baccalaureate degree
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be flexible with hours to accommodate patient recruitment.
- Strong computer skills including PC, Windows, and Microsoft Office Suite and email experience
- Strong medical terminology experience and ability to read medical records
Preferred
- Clinical research experience
- CITI Training
