Job Description
Utilizes technical coding expertise to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM codes to outpatient visit types. Primary focus of this Coder level will be on physician order documentation for focused outpatient visit types. Reviews all available documentation to report appropriate diagnoses. Follows ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, Coding Clinics, interprets ICD-10-CM coding conventions and instructional notes to select appropriate diagnoses with a minimum of 95% accuracy. Meets established minimum coding productivity and quality standards for each outpatient encounter type. AA/EOE.
Qualifications
Required: CCA, CPC, CSS or COC or RHIA/RHIT eligible. Requires basic understanding of coding guidelines and principles as it relates to reporting diagnosis codes for outpatient. The quality management plan currently is a combination of current and retrospective review of charts by a designated clinical coder. Desired: RHIA/RHIT.
