Northwestern Medicine is seeking an experienced Cardiac/Cardiac Surgical Registered Nurse for the Patient Education Specialist.
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Patient Education Specialist to join our Cardiology Service Line team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating educational materials and web content that help patients understand their heart conditions, treatments, and lifestyle changes necessary for optimal heart health. This role combines clinical expertise with strong writing skills to produce clear, accurate, and engaging content..
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation: Develop patient education materials, including brochures, pamphlets, online articles, and videos, that explain complex cardiology concepts in an accessible manner.
- Clinical Collaboration: Work closely with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, interventionalists, cardiac nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accuracy and relevance of educational content. In addition, act as clinical liaison between medical illustrator and marketing department to ensure clinical accuracy of content.
- Patient Communication: Translate medical jargon and research findings into easy-to-understand language for patients and their families.
- Research: Stay updated on the latest cardiology research, treatments, and best practices to incorporate into educational materials.
- Quality Assurance: Review and edit content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Educational Programs: Assist in the development and implementation of patient education programs and workshops.
- Feedback Integration: Gather and incorporate feedback from patients and healthcare providers to continuously improve educational materials.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all educational materials and updates.
- Website Content Management: Create and update content for the cardiology service line's website, ensuring information is current, accurate, and engaging.
- SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Optimization: Implement SEO best practices to improve the visibility and accessibility of cardiology-related content online.
- Digital Engagement: Develop strategies to enhance patient engagement through digital platforms, including social media and online forums.
- Analytics: Monitor website traffic and engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of online content and make data-driven improvements.
Qualifications
Required
- State of Illinois, Professional Licensure (based on specialty).
- Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation recognition (healthcare provider level).
- Master’s degree in nursing or healthcare related field, with a focus on adult/clinical education.
- Five years professional clinical experience.
- This self-directed individual must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint computer applications.
Preferred
- Demonstrated success in the development, delivery and evaluation of education materials and strategies.
