We are looking to hire a Hardware Development Engineer with microfabrication experience using electron beam lithography. The candidate will work on developing and improving e-beam lithography processes needed for superconducting circuit fabrication. The position is on-site at our lab, located on the in Pasadena, CA. The ideal candidate will have had prior experience semiconductor or superconducting device fabrication. We are looking for candidates with strong engineering principles, resourcefulness and data science experience. Organization and communication skills are essential.
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Key job responsibilities
* Design and optimize multilayer layouts with Python and/ or Julia scripting for layout generation and data analysis.
* Develop advanced fabrication recipes for superconducting qubits using e-beam lithography and direct-write lithography on various substrates.
* Collaborate closely with researchers, scientists and engineer leading complex projects.
* Analyze and interpret complex scientific data, providing critical insights and recommendations based on experiments from e-beam lithography work.
* Assist in the evaluation, acquisition, and maintenance of research core equipment.
* Mentor and train other staff members in e-beam lithography and other lithography techniques.
* Working with various external vendors and internal hardware equipment engineers to resolve tool issues.
* Establishing proper monitors for statistical process control of e-beam lithogrpahy and other lithography prcoesses.
A day in the life
The role will be vital to the fabrication team. E-beam lithograhy is critical to the patterning of critical components and sub-components for superconducting circuits. The candidate will work with scientists and engineers in developing new processes as well as improve existing processes supported by e-beam lithography processing. The candidate will improve monitors already in place and develop new ones, as necessary, to enable microfabrication of superconducting qubit process flows. This position may require second shift and occasional weekend work.
About the team
Our team is comprised of scientists and engineers who are building hardware that enables quantum computing technologies. Doing that requires the fabrication of quantum devices, which necessitates staying close to the details and analyzing data while building tools to better understand the data.
