Technology Planning Analyst Specialist (TPA)
This position reports to the VP of Gas Technology Solutions (GTS) and provides communication, planning and coordination across GTS portfolio functions, other Technology Organization (TO) functions and Southern Company Gas (GAS) business functions to continually progress our vision for adding value, driving innovation and accelerating growth.
This position supports the office of the VP of Gas Technology Solutions including owning communications across multiple channels, leading key initiatives, contributing to transformation and representing the office the VP internally and externally.
This position will coordinate alignment of holistic technology roadmaps across portfolios and technology functions for the benefit of business and technology partners to understand long term plans, opportunities and dependencies. The TPA will establish mutually beneficial partnerships with key technology functions who directly engage with GAS including technology services, digital workplace solutions, technology security and enterprise technology solutions.
This position will collaborate with other TPA’s across TO, especially in Electric Technology, to leverage best practices and align processes to improve our efficiency, effectiveness and overall capabilities. The TPA will contribute thought leadership to how our technology plans and investments have clear and concise business justification that enable specific business strategies and add value.
This position will be responsible for engaging externally with industry across our ecosystem of peers and partners to bring innovative and emerging technology trends and best practices to bear at GTS, TO and GAS.
This position will develop relationships across executive, management and induvial contributor levels. This position will exemplify the values and behaviors we seek to demonstrate in how we drive results, elevate partnership and increase influence.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops high quality, concise and meaningful communications materials, and coordinates distribution, presentation and feedback loops to continuously reinforce the business challenges TO is solving, the value TO is adding, the innovation TO is driving and the growth of our business TO is accelerating.
- Facilitates engagement and communication across external and internal forums including industry associations, community service organizations, strategic vendor partners, key business partners, key technology partners, internal change champions and GTS employees.
- Gathers input from GTS portfolios, other TO functions and GAS strategy and business imperatives to create visual materials representing holistic technology roadmaps that translate business strategy into execution plans.
- Builds trusting partnerships with business and technology colleagues that align on adding mutually beneficial value for employees, customers, the company and the communities we serve.
- Influences organizational evolution of articulating business benefit, business value and business cases where appropriate for new ideas and projects that receive technology resources to execute on.
- Facilitates measurement and collection of agreed upon key performance indicators across GTS for measuring continuous improvement period over period.
- Brings innovative and emerging technology trends, tools and methodologies for awareness, evaluation and adoption at GAS.
- Represents values, mission and vision of VP and GTS leadership team when acting and communicating.
- Tracks and Oversees Technology Validation Process across TPA’s within GTS.
Education
- BS or BA degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field is preferred; four (4) years relevant experience is acceptable.
Experience
- Experience communicating concisely and establish credibility with executives, management, customers and employees.
- Customer facing experience with relationship building demonstrated
- Experience in technology strategy and planning, business relationship management, business analysis and consulting
- Experience improving technology driven business processes

Location
- Successful candidate must reside in GA or IL.
- Up to 4 days a week in person hybrid work arrangement.
- Travel Required as much as 25-50%
