Job Description
The Lead Procedure RN reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
- The Lead Procedure RN works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to promote holistic, patient-centered care. This role requires self-direction and initiative in the roles of clinician, educator, and consultant, providing direct patient care and expert consultation using in-depth clinical knowledge.
Responsibilities:
- Partners closely with Physicians and Staff to ensure they are well-positioned to provide exceptional care. Accomplishes these objectives through mentorship, preceptorship, education, and demonstration.
- Serves as a resource for staff. Demonstrates accountability and collaborative practice with co-workers, other disciplines, and departments.
- Works with staff, Supply Chain, and others to ensure procedure room readiness
- Coordinates unit-based staffing assignments (room schedule, call schedule) in the procedural areas on a shift basis to achieve high quality and cost-effective care. May serve as the Relief Charge RN, when indicated.
- Collaborates with the Professional Development Team to identify educational needs of the team, structure their training, and facilitate learning. Shares knowledge and expertise through educating team members, patients and students.
- Maintains relationships with industry partners to facilitate timely and effective care as it pertains to on-site support, supplies, or other considerations that have bearing on the outcome of care.
- Troubleshoots issues with technology and escalates to the appropriate parties to enact swift resolution
- Champions new initiatives and helps in departmental or hospital wide committees/task forces.
- Identifies and communicates key issues and trends to leadership and makes recommendations for improvement on an ongoing basis.
- Participates as a member of the clinical nurse team that directly supports provision of care in the advanced endoscopy lab.
- Assures safety and security of patients, significant others, and staff.
- Implements appropriate actions to respond to needs of patients and their significant others.
- Monitors and documents the patient’s response to therapeutic interventions and progress toward outcomes.
- Evaluates and documents the patient’s responses to nursing interventions and individualizes the plan of care based on evaluation.
- Identifies situations that require further intervention and escalates appropriately; consults appropriate experts and resources when needed.

Qualifications
Required:
- Current RN license in the state of Illinois
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
- Minimum of five years of nursing experience, with current interventional GI clinical experience within the past five years
- BLS
- ACLS
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Strongly prefer certification in a practice area that is relevant to the care of patients with advanced GI diseases
- BLS, ACLS certifications
- Strongly prefer experience in a role that provided care of patients with advanced gastrointestinal diseases
- Proficiency of EPIC electronic medical records (EMR)
