We are looking for an experienced Support Engineer with mechatronics and maintenance experience in technology development and manufacturing environments to help us develop and support the next generation of automated satellite test systems.
As a Project Kuiper Support Engineer you will participate in the development of test automation equipment, and control systems. You will own assembly and bring-up of mechanical systems, electrical enclosures and mechatronics equipment. You will work with engineering and maintenance teams to develop and maintain preventive maintenance plans and critical spare parts lists for engineering equipment, and will own the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on automated test systems. You will train production operations technicians on maintenance procedures and will ensure that their training keeps pace with improvements to production systems.
Key job responsibilities
- This position will work 2nd shift (4 PM - 2 AM) either Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday through Sunday.
- Develop, augment, and support integration and testing of components, from subsystems to the full spacecraft to determine suitability for flight.
- Work with avionics, payload and software teams to gather requirements, design test plans, determine applicable test cases, and prepare for test execution.
- Own integration campaigns and collaborate with responsible engineers, manufacturing engineers, software developers tooling teams to and any deliver a thoroughly tested spacecraft ready for launch.
- Communicate fluidly across a variety of teams to identify product risks and how they will be addressed to ensure mission success.
- Develop complex test automation sequences using scripting languages such as Python.
- Develop innovative hardware and processes to optimize and improve testing capabilities and processes.
About the team
The Integrated Vehicle Test team is responsible for development and execution of test plans to ensure reliable operation of satellite vehicles in space. The team’s responsibilities include process development, test hardware development and test execution for qualification vehicles and improving and scaling processes for production cadence. The tasks and daily focus change rapidly, and you will often take on exciting new responsibilities to ensure project success. Expect to be deployed to address complex problems by identifying the scope of the issue and quickly establishing innovative and functional solutions.
