The Project Management and Estimating Manager oversees projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and according to specifications. This role involves both project management responsibilities like scheduling and budgeting, as well as estimating responsibilities such as cost analysis and bid preparation.
Project Management:
- Planning and Scheduling: Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies.
- Budget Management: Create and manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Resource Allocation: Coordinate personnel, equipment, and materials to optimize project progress.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Communication and Reporting: Maintain clear communication with stakeholders, providing regular project updates and reports.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations.
- Change Management: Manage change orders, scope changes, and other modifications to the project plan.
- Project Closeout: Oversee project completion, documentation, and final reporting.
Estimating:
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, considering labor, materials, and other expenses.
- Bid Preparation: Develop competitive bids for projects, including accurate cost breakdowns.
- Subcontractor Management: Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather pricing information.
- Value Engineering: Identify opportunities to optimize costs and improve project efficiency.
- Risk Assessment: Analyze potential risks associated with cost estimates and develop mitigation plans.
- Cost Control: Monitor project costs against the budget and identify areas for cost reduction. Location: Based in Pittsburgh or adjacent area and works in open office format or remotely
Education & Experience Requirements
- Project Management Experience: Proven experience in managing construction or related projects.
- Undergraduate degree with 5 -10 years’ experience
- Estimating Expertise: Strong understanding of cost estimation principles and techniques.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in relevant software and tools for project management and estimating.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess project costs and risks.
- Leadership Skills:
- Supervises a team with as many as 10 Project Managers and Estimators
- Acts as a player coach in times of high demand
- Manage estimators and project managers workloads and assigns bids, project walks, and projects accordingly
- Make sure estimating and project management team has resources to complete quality work on time to internal and external stakeholders
- Provides supervision and guidance to teams to deliver quality support and recommend and implement process improvements to support business needs and initiatives
- Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in cost estimates and project plans.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Software skills: Bluebeam, Microsoft Office products, Adobe, Enterprise Reporting Platforms including Infor, similar, project management and estimating software.
- May requires overnight travel, less than 20% of the time
