The Principal Program Manager leads the strategic development and management of a unified account compliance reuse program. This role focuses on enabling cross-regulation and cross-region seller data and information reuse to drive operational efficiency and improve the seller compliance experience. It is responsible for development and adoption of policies that remove redundancies in our account compliance verification checks, and for continuous oversight to monitor the efficacy of the program and adjust to ongoing changes in a dynamic regulatory environment.
The role owns comprehensive oversight of reuse strategies for multiple regulatory areas including Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Tax, and Trade Compliance across Amazon’s regulated and non-regulated entities. The Principal Program Manager develops verification equivalency standards and creates an adaptable taxonomy that is extensible for future regulations. The leader must also implement a process for integrating new store and regulation requirements by creating an artifact onboarding procedure and classification dictionary that validates policies against the existing set of attributes and updates the attributes every time there are changes. They will develop the vision and strategy for how we reconcile and reduce verifications needed across any compliance obligation or Amazon policy.
This leader must collaborate extensively to build the organizational expertise and influence mental models and roadmaps. They will synthesize inputs from several dozen subject matter experts, and drive alignment with leaders across multiple organization.
The Principal Program Manager's role extends beyond initial implementation, requiring continuous oversight of the reuse program. This leader is accountable for maintaining high compliance standards while driving operational efficiencies. They develop and maintain standardized processes for document handling and data management, while establishing performance metrics and quality assurance systems that streamline compliance work. Key responsibilities include maintaining regulatory alignment, managing stakeholder relationships (Compliance, Risk, and Business leaders) and driving process improvements. The role demands a balance between compliance requirements and operational efficiency, requiring ongoing monitoring and adjustment. Working with cross-functional teams, they support audits, represent program status to Compliance Governance Boards, and continuously measure and report on effectiveness.
Critically, this leader aligns the reuse framework with existing product roadmaps and creates realistic integration timelines. As the organization transitions from a fragmented compliance architecture to a unified system, this role bridges strategic vision with technical implementation, ensuring the new compliance services architecture effectively serves all stakeholders while maintaining regulatory compliance.
