Job Description
This position is .6 FTE (48 hours per pay period)
Requires every other weekend. Must be willing to work both day and evening shifts.
The Cardiology Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Under general supervision performs various cardiology technical procedures.
The individual should prepare for the appraisal interview by completing a brief summary of specific accomplishments during the past year, problem areas that need attention, personal/professional growth plans and work goals for the coming year.
The evaluator should complete this appraisal by specific documentation of how well the individual accomplished/handled the major functions of his/her position. The appraisal conference should be used to identify strengths and weaknesses, set goals and priorities that are in keeping with overall hospital goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. ASSESSMENT/PROBLEM IDENTIFCA TION
1.Prepares patients for ECG testing
2. Identifies abnormal test results and alerts appropriate physicians of critical values according to policy,
3. Demonstrates knowledge ofholter monitor aoolication. Provides patient/family orientation.
II. IMPLEMENTATION/INTERVENTIONS
Responsible for:
1. Obtaining consent form, instruction, preparing and monitoring patient during procedure.
2. Works with physicians, nursing and other Cardiology department personnel to maintain a constant flow of patient stress procedures.
3. Assists in preparing monthly statistical report as to activity of procedures.
III. EDUCATION
- Maintains age-appropriate technical and assessment skills.
IV. SAFETY
1. Cleans and maintains equipment as scheduled.
2. Reports all equipment malfunctions to management to
facilitate repair by the Clinical Engineering department or appropriate outside vendor.
3. Responsible for phone details as assigned.
4. Attends mandatory safety and educational in-services.
5. Follow hospital policies for safety. Comply with specific department responsibilities during fire drills or alarms.
V.COMMUNICATION
1. Projects a customer-friendly image when dealing with all internal and external parties.
2. Contributes to the positive work climate and to the overall team effort of the department.
VI. ADMINISTRATION

VII. COMPETENCY VALIDATION
1. Responsible for learning knowledge and skill to remain competent to perform the activities of the assigned position and demonstrates the skill at an acceptable

Qualifications
Required:
High school graduate with six months previous ECG experience or certificate from a licensed Cardiology training course.
