Brief Job Overview/Summary
The Director of the Gear Up Program at Stockton University will have the responsibility to develop, implement, and manage Gear UP. Gear Up provides programming for target schools in the Atlantic City and Pleasantville School Districts. This position will be responsible for the planning and management of the program by developing and recommending goals, policies, and procedures, which comply with university policies and goals. The Director of Gear Up position requires skills in management, supervision, program implementation, oversight, partnership, teamwork, and political stakeholder engagement. This position reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage compile, collect, and analyze data collected to accommodate students’ needs
- Manage grant budget by allocating appropriate funding and maintaining monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the University while ensuring compliance of state regulations
- Supervise, recruit, hire and train part-time and full-time staff
- Develop partnerships with school districts
- Collaborate interdepartmentally with Admissions, Financial Aid, EOF, Students Affairs to provide holistic students development in collegiate environment
- Direct all program operations, including staffing, budgeting, and coordination with school administration
- Design program activities, including tutoring, field trips, college campus visits, financial aid and college admissions workshops, STEM activities and in- class postsecondary readiness activities for students and parents
- Coordinate, develop, implement academic year and summer program to ensure students’ academic success
- Collaborate with teachers, data personnel and counselors to implement programming
- Using school data, which includes demographics, academics and test scores, to continually evaluate program activities and bring continuous improvements
- Identify, recruit and coordinate available community resources, including guest speakers, mentors, and volunteers
- Help to publicize the program locally and statewide through local media sources
- Maintain accurate cost accounting records for all expenditures
- Represent GEAR UP program at statewide and institutional meetings
- Mandatory travel between Galloway and Atlantic City campuses and 11 partner schools
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership professional, communication, partnership, organizational, and management & supervisory skills.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in education, youth development, counseling, or a closely related field
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Prior experience in a grant funded employment position
- Demonstrate success in coordinating resources from a variety of local and community- based organizations
- Demonstrate experience with opportunity grants
- Demonstrate ability to work with community organizations, educational and social service resources
- Teaching or training experience
