The Technical Specialist is responsible for technical sales and sales support, system design, creating estimates and work orders, project management and coordinating Public Safety installations. Additional responsibilities include quality control, providing performance feedback to camera integrators associated with Public Safety installations and repairs and invoice processing. This position supports the growing customer base throughout the service territory and will be a key player in the execution of the Public Safety strategy to grow profitable sales and net income in Alabama Power’s unregulated Smart Services Business Unit.
Job Responsibilities :
- Support the Public Safety team in achieving sales and profitability targets.
- Develop customer presentations, conduct site visits, prepare proposals, etc.
- Design profitable surveillance solutions to meet customer needs (e.g., site design and layout, camera views and descriptions, checklist completion, etc.)
- Provide ongoing technical support to customers, integrators, engineers, and construction groups.
- Support the exploration, analysis, and development of new products.
- Solicit ideas, assess data, interpret market learnings, and make product-oriented recommendations.
- Continuously monitor data backhaul and storage options to enhance service offerings.
- Must be available to travel within the assigned territory and nationally (for conferences and vendor events)
Job Requirements :
- Four-year degree preferred
- 3+ years of experience with IP cameras, including streaming, local and cloud-based storage, and system integration with security systems and network video recording platforms preferred.
- 3+ years HD surveillance system architecture experience, including cloud storage, integration, network video management systems, and analytics platforms preferred.
- Technical knowledge of all aspects of surveillance solution design including product features and functionality, solution pricing, and deployment costs
- General understanding of outdoor lighting technologies and electric utility operations desired
- Ability to work with internal and external groups to design and install solutions, including vendors (camera manufacturers), third party partners (integrators, ISPs) and internal APC departments.
- Analytical skills to translate customer needs and requirements into technical solution design including camera type and location, other equipment required, and cloud-based viewing software for user access.
- Excellent technical and persuasive writing skills to facilitate proposal development.
- Ability to develop market strategy, implement tactics, and understand and apply market learnings.
- Ability to work well under pressure and successfully operate in a competitive environment with specific net income goals.
- Highly motivated, versatile, and able to work effectively on multiple tasks across various cross-functional groups.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively engage individuals at all levels inside and outside the company.
- Desire to take ownership of projects and make sure the job is completed and the customer is satisfied.
