Description Position SummaryThe Graduate Advanced Practice Provider is a temporary, non-licensed role created to support onboarding and orientation of new Physician Assistant graduates while their credentialing and medical staff appointment process is underway. This role allows the graduate to acclimate to the healthcare team, clinical workflows, and organizational culture in preparation for full practice as a Physician Assistant once credentialing is complete and board approval is obtained.
Key Responsibilities - Participate in departmental orientation and training programs.
- Observe patient care activities under the supervision of credentialed providers.
- Complete required organizational learning, compliance, and safety modules.
- Shadow physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff to gain familiarity with patient care protocols, documentation systems, and team communication processes.
- Assist with non-clinical tasks such as chart preparation, data gathering, quality improvement projects, or care coordination activities as assigned.
- Support the clinical team in patient flow, communication, and educational activities within scope of a non-licensed role.
Limitations of Role - The Graduate Advanced Practice Provider is not permitted to provide independent clinical care, perform procedures, or document in the medical record as a provider.
- Direct patient care may only occur in the context of observation or as part of tasks permitted for unlicensed team members under supervision.
- This role is temporary and contingent upon successful credentialing and medical staff approval as a Physician Assistant.
Qualifications - Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Pending licensure, certification, and credentialing through the organization's medical staff office.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
DurationThis position is intended as a
short-term transitional role until the graduate is credentialed and approved by the medical staff and Board of Directors. At that time, the individual will transition into the Physician Assistant position.
