Job Description: Information Systems Analyst (System Analyst)
Job Summary:
The AMI Information Systems Analyst is a highly technical and analytical role responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and continuous flow of high-quality data from the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Headend system to internal and external systems for billing and operational use. This position supports enterprise-wide functions including Energy Sales and Services, Technology Organization, Customer Services, Regulatory, and Metering Services, and plays a key role in maintaining data integrity, system performance, and operational efficiency.
Major Job Responsibilities AMI Data Integrity & System Monitoring (20%) Ensuring data quality, system performance, and exception resolution.
- Ensure continuous availability and quality of AMI data across systems.
- Monitor system performance and resolve data exceptions.
- Develop and analyze daily AMI performance using dashboards and tracking tools.
- Identify anomalies, summarize trends, and support operational improvements.
Technical Troubleshooting & Support (20%) Diagnosing and resolving issues across AMI infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot AMI Headend, C2M, CSS, and network components (relays, APs, meters).
- Implement corrective actions and collaborate with internal teams and vendors.
- Serve as back up to the AMI Network Analyst.
- Assist with network gear, daily views, and generate field orders for investigation.
System Integration & Process Optimization (30%) Enhancing system architecture and operational workflows.
- Maintain and refine system interfaces and integrations.
- Work with TO, Metering Services, and other departments to ensure proper architecture and service levels.
- Support AMI business processes including meter reads, billing, file validation, and network performance (LAN/WAN).
- Develop automation tools and new programs to improve data collection and operational efficiency.
Training, Reporting & Innovation (30%) Focus: Knowledge sharing, reporting, and future technology evaluation.
- Ensure safety and compliance through proper procedures and equipment.
- Evaluate and recommend new metering technologies for load research and reliability improvements.
- Write scripts or software for data analysis and reporting.
- Prepare summaries of AMI activities and communicate results to management.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills):
- A four-year degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in similar areas is required.
- Experience in software development and lifecycle management is required.
- Knowledge of Customer Services billing processes, field services, communication systems, metering technologies, or TO systems related to AMI/MDM.
- Experience with electric metering and ability to resolve metering issues preferred.
- Proficiency in various programming and scripting languages for automation and data analysis. (e.g. Oracle, MSSQL, Databricks, .NET C#,VB,& ASP, Python, Perl, JavaScript, HTML)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across departments and with vendor partners.
- Occasional "on-call" assignments and flexibility to work irregular hours when needed.
