Job Summary
Teachers Retirement Association (TRA) has been providing pension coverage to Minnesota educators for decades, with a mission to help members and their beneficiaries plan for an independent and financially secure retirement. We are currently seeking job candidates with strong information technology experience in web development and maintenance for our IT Web Developer role.
The purpose of this position is to assist with design, development, and maintenance of TRA’s Drupal-based website, which includes custom module development, diagnosing and correcting problems, optimizing website performance and security, and ensuring that the website is accessible and mobile friendly. The incumbent will also assist with integrating third-party tools, such as calendars, forms, and surveys into TRA websites. Lastly, the incumbent will backup and assist TRA’s SharePoint administrator, and will be tasked with staying well-informed of web and mobile development industry trends.
This is a temporary position anticipated to last up to two (2) years. It is located in our St. Paul, Minnesota office and may be eligible for awork schedule that includes some teleworking. The incumbent hired into this position must possess the ability to secure their own transportation for in-state business travel, conferences, and/or trainings. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time for this role.
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of Information Technology (IT) work experience in designing, developing, administering, and/or deploying web applications and interfaces.
A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Computer Applications, or a related field may substitute for two (2) years of experience OR a related Associate degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Experience must demonstrate the following:
- Technical ability, knowledge, and experience with:
- Building and maintaining web applications and interfaces, such as Drupal CMS, HTML/5, CSS/3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
- Module development in open-source content management systems, such as Drupal. Work should include the development of module features, custom modules, and themes.
- Building sites with open-source content management systems, such as Drupal. Work should include a deep familiarity with system modules, such as CTools, Views, and Panels.
- Experience in databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Ability to design and develop responsive websites.
- Ability to diagnose problems and recommend solutions for technical issue resolution and process improvement purposes.
- Strong interpersonal, written communication, and verbal communication skills necessary to collaborate on enterprise projects; present complex information to users in a comprehensive style; and influence others to resolve conflicting viewpoints.
- Advanced proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Cisco Webex; or equivalent software packages.
Successful candidates also must be able to secure their own transportation for in-state business travel, conferences, and/or trainings. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time for this role.
This is a temporary position anticipated to last up to two (2) years. The position may be converted to a permanent role, dependent upon ongoing business need.
Preferred Qualifications
At least one (1) year of experience in designing, developing, administering, and/or deploying web applications and interfaces.
Basic knowledge and experience with SharePoint development including creating and configuring SharePoint sites, lists, libraries, and web parts.
Familiarity with Representational State Transfer Application Programming Interface (REST API) and integrations.
Programming experience in PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor.
Experience with Drupal content management system administration and development.
Experience in using Acquia as hosting platform.
Experience in web graphical, browser, and cross-platform compatibility testing.
Experience in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) related to user interface design standards.
Experience with all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, and iterative.
Physical Requirements
This position requires occasional transporting of articles such as file folders, ledgers and/or small tools. May be required to move or maintain a stationary position for long periods of time.
