What You’ll Work On
Serve as a Strategic Leader within the Technical Solution Design (TSD) team to build a best-in-class technical team that covers our Core Diagnostics portfolio, including Lab Systems / Automation, Informatics, Workflow and Consulting lines of business. This position will develop, create, and design strategies for the most complex and largest customer base, such as key strategic customers and national/regional health systems. Responsible for the management of multiple TSD “pods”, with responsibility of creating an environment of professional growth. Work with the TSD Senior Manager to develop training programs, creation of technical materials with marketing and Request for Proposal (RFP) bid team, and maintenance of team regulatory compliance.
- Lead TSD teams of their region as a strategic sales leader, responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key account customers to drive the technical sales differentiation of Abbott solutions.
- Guide the regional technical solution design team to analyze user needs, gather customer requirements, design an integrated, scalable, and comprehensive solution to improve outcomes for clinical diagnostic healthcare customers. Coordinate with a complex network of departments throughout all levels of an organization such as Sales, Hospital executive and c-suite leaders, Lab Managers/Directors, Project Managers, HSI/ IT personnel, internal and external vendors, contractors, and senior level management as needed.
- Manage a team of technical experts that provide a communication link between, US customers, company US sales and service teams, and international counterparts, as needed. Responsible for managing TSD team activities and workload to meet and exceed all sales timelines for solution design deliverables. Develop and maintain competitive comparisons to support business strategy. Act as primary commercial contact for technical specialist teams for product and process development and improvement leveraging knowledge and experience in clinical laboratory science and laboratory operations and workflows.
- Partner with the Sales Organization identifying new consulting opportunities and developing customized solutions. Activities could include RFI/RFP assistance as it relates to technical data, solution development, value creation and customer meetings and presentations. Develop team with a goal to act as a single functional unit covering all aspects of technical expertise for Abbott products
- Build and maintain effective long-term relationships with internal and external customers. Manage and support sales objectives and customer satisfaction to grow the business. Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in more than one clinical laboratory design specialty: strategic selling, automation, instrumentation, analytics, workflow, and/or informatics. Display excellence in leadership, mentoring and coaching team members to continue the advancement of technical skills. Lead training and development exercises to maintain a strong succession pipeline within the TSD organization.
- Maintain fiscal responsibility in both revenue and expenses with primary goal of exceeding each year’s work plan.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7+ years of experience in Selling technical products, services, installations, and configurations of automated diagnostics systems, laboratory automation systems, and system integrations.
- Clinical laboratory science and laboratory operations and workflows
- Modifying informatics, laboratory middleware, and automation software or conducting data analyses and utilizing data mining software specific to instrumentation and automation platforms.
- Strong leadership / management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sold Core diagnostics (Clinical Chemistry and Amino assays)
- Laboratory Informatics or Laboratory Automation experience preferred.

The base pay for this position is
$113,300.00 – $226,700.00
