Job Description
The HealthLab Direct Send Processor reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Under the direction of the Manager, the HealthLab Direct Send Processoris accountable in coordinating the direct send workflow. This position includes processing specimens, sending out tests, and resulting send out tests. This position will coordinate with clients, Physicians, Lab leadership team, Med Techs, Phlebotomist, Sales, and Service representatives on any referred testing process. This position also is responsible for liaising with Healthlab clients and Lab operations on direct send process.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for acquiring written orders from clients.
- Responsible for entering test orders in lab information system(s)
- Responsible for reconciling invoices from reference labs.
- Responsible for entering charges for misc. referred testing.
- Receives specimens and enters accession information into laboratory information system(s).
- Responsible for sending specimens to reference labs.
- Responsible for the accuracy of collected specimens against orders.
- Investigates and resolves patient technical problems and helps in workflow problems.
- Prepares specimens for delivery to testing departments or shipment to external laboratories.
- Performs disposal of specimens as appropriate.
- Responsible for result entry.
- Responsible for answering phone calls, enter orders and verbally or electronically communicates results.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, JCAHO, CAP, multi-disciplinary, hospital regulations, policies and procedures.
- Reviews and maintains send out test codes
- Coordinates with lab leadership to ensure that all computer systems related changes for referred testing, e.g. test code builds, test code validations, interfaces with reference labs, are appropriately planned and executed per department policy and have receive documented approval at all steps.
- Adheres to hospital and department policies and procedures.
- Coordinates and tracks movement of specimens sent directly to reference labs.
- Organizes courier activities, including storage specimens, managing information accrued from point of origin to delivery, orchestrating specimen movements, and arranging for services as necessary.
- Participates in and presents at laboratory meetings and continuing education programs related to referred testing.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- Have at least two years of clinical experience in the laboratory
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Good management and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office-Word/Excel/Power Point
