The Opportunity
This position will provide support to our Medical Devices, Vascular manufacturing facility in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. Our medical devices help more than 10,000 people have healthier hearts, improve quality of life for thousands of people living with chronic pain and movement disorders, and liberate more than 500,000 people with diabetes from routine fingersticks and Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.
As the Lead Facilities Engineer is directly responsible for the site infrastructure to always be operational (this includes: the utilities and equipment, including the preventive maintenance of all equipment under the building and support equipment to operations). The Lead Facilities Engineer will be leading the TPM program strategy in addition will support all projects related to clean room and manufacturing areas on projects execution/turnkey for the completed site. Performs a variety of Facilities Infrastructure Engineering scope related assignments and routine tasks by developing and implementing processing methods, controls and metrics to deliver full quality system compliance standards, best cost-effective alternatives and optimal customer service satisfaction based on this scope. Provide direction and direct supervision to Facilities Engineer, Facilities Technicians, Spare parts area, Pest control and housekeeping. Have full accountability for all quality issues (CAPA's, NCMR's and Investigations) related to the complete Facilities scope Equipment and Infrastructure. Also, will be responsible for developing and administrate the budget under the department of Facilities.
What You’ll Do
Applies fundamental building infrastructure related engineering concepts, practices and procedures to accomplish assigned and routine tasks as required so that the site utilities and facilities equipment infrastructure can perform uninterrupted 24 hours/7 days.
Owner of the sustainability site initiatives such as water and energy conservation to achieve Site Goals.
Direct interface with our external and internal clients on the scope of management, execution and turnkey of infrastructure scope related projects, equipment maintenance and proper utilities equipment technical operation for full compliance of the Facilities
Infrastructure scope with the complete Abbott businesses and their necessities and expectations.
Use engineering and other continuous improvement methodologies so the complete site infrastructure, utilities and facilities equipment infrastructure (maintenance and technical support/operation) can perform uninterrupted, at the best cost possible and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
Use engineering and other continuous improvement methodologies so all site Infrastructure related scope projects can be performed, from conceptual to validation/turnkey, at the best cost possible, on a timely basis and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
Report the results by means of metrics as established within the department and through QDR forums.
Ensure all predictive and preventive maintenance activities are completed by the assigned due date and ensure continuous revision of these activities utilizing continuous improvement methodologies to ensure equipment, infrastructure and systems can operate uninterruptible during the entire lifespan.

Plan, leads and execute shutdown activities. Supervise the Pest control and housekeeping contractors. Participates as a liaison between outside contractors, government and regulatory agencies and the engineering department facilities scope.
Ensure compliance with all Abbott procedures and all applicable regulatory agency requirements.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering. (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
Minimum 7 years experiences working experience on similar roles, Facilities or Infrastructure Engineering role.
Experience in Pharmaceutical or Medical Device environments.
Strong experience managing projects across Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, Structural, and Security disciplines.
Candidate must have solid hands‑on experience in: Compressed Air, Air Conditioning, extensive experience with cleanroom technologies.
Lead and supervise Facilities Engineers, Technicians, spare parts, pest control, and housekeeping teams.
Fully own Facilities quality issues (CAPA, NCMR, Investigations).
Maintain 24/7 operational readiness of facilities infrastructure.
Interface with external contractors.
Advanced English communication skills (written and verbal) to interact effectively with global stakeholders.
Digital skills: Microsoft Office.
