Our teams in Milpitas and Alameda, CA currently have an opportunity for a Manager, Embedded Electrical Systems. In this role, you will lead and manage electrical engineers in the design, development, and troubleshooting of critical electrical systems. You will guide the team in identifying, recommending, and implementing significant and complex improvements or new embedded electrical technologies that meet regulatory requirements. The position may involve overseeing multiple engineering initiatives, developing strong cross‑functional partnerships, and providing clear, effective communication to Senior Management.
What You’ll Work On
- Lead a team of electrical engineers in the design and development of electronics and firmware for battery-powered wireless embedded systems
- Communicate effectively to senior leadership
- Lead programs and cross-functional development teams
- Create career development programs for the team and develop medium-term planning for the growth of the process
- Manage resource allocation and budgeting for the function
- Develop sensitive, low noise, and low-power analog circuits
- Design RF wireless technologies including RF and inductive antenna design
- EMC/EMI design and testing per regulatory standards
- Design circuits and PCB layouts including DFM and DFT
- Develop electrical and product requirements and specifications, design FMEAs, and V&V test protocols
- Test, characterize, and verify electrical designs
- System modeling
- Ensure that electrical design and test equipment meet applicable industry and medical device standards
- Write and submit Engineering Change Orders into our product life cycle documentation system
- Comply with all applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and perform other duties as assigned by the Management Team
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 12 yrs experience in design engineering and at least 3 years of engineering management experience.
- Effectiveness in lead and manage engineering teams
- Mastery of fundamental Electrical Engineering principles
- Excellence at engineering design and analysis of embedded electrical systems
- Experience with real-time operating systems; freeRTOS, etc.
- Experience with battery powered devices
- Fluency in hardware and PCB design and experience in firmware development
- Understanding of processes used in the design and manufacture medical devices, particularly sensitive, low noise, low-current, wireless devices
- Working knowledge in writing product requirements and design specifications
- Excellence in written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with embedded microcontroller designs in medical devices
- Integrated circuit specification and application in low power designs experience
- Firmware development using C, C++, C#, etc.
- System modeling
- Experience in medical device development
- Experience with wireless systems (NFC, BLE, Cellular), ultra-low power analog design
The base pay for this position is
$148,700.00 – $297,300.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
