Job Summary
NPK Access Solutions' Manufacturing Team is seeking a qualified technical person to strengthen our manufacturing excellence, which is core to our market leadership in composite matting. This is a visible multidisciplinary hands-on role, responsible for continuous improvement, process monitoring, and excellence. You will work with the manufacturing and engineering plant staff daily and share the organizational production and quality goals. We are looking for a person who prioritizes safety and has strength and experience in Engineering, Automation and Continuous Improvement. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on self-learner who is willing to both work in a manufacturing and office setting (more than half the time in the plant). The role requires teamwork, presentations, and regular internal communication with the division management, plant management, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Committed to maintaining a safe workplace.
- Troubleshoot and maintain process uptime and quality goals. Current manufacturing process consists of plastic extrusion and molding.
- Manage Capital Equipment Projects by working with both internal and external teams.
- Be proficient in Microsoft suite, and the ability to learn different technical software and databases.
- Basic familiarity of statistical data analysis, Six Sigma & Lean tools.
- Ability to create and analyze process flow diagrams.
- Ability to understand machine configurations and specifications. Ability to conduct a gap analysis if a specific machine or a process step is operating at, above or below the design guidelines.
- Basic familiarity with selection, use and working of various automation equipment and sensors.
- Be an integral part of new product-process development manufacturing process time gains.
- Ability to design and conduct small scale tests to validate hypothesis. Proficiency in using basic mechanical tools and power tools.
- Responsibility for drafting and revising standard operating procedures and process/equipment workflows.
- Responsible for frequent reporting and internal presentations.
- Familiarity with basic plastics and metallic materials of construction and their properties.
- Responsible for staying current with technical advances in pertinent manufacturing processes.
- Be able to communicate with new engineering vendors and machine manufacturers and travel to assess or conduct new machinery trials.
- Proficient in searching and understanding technical publications.
Education And Experience Requirements
- Education: B.S. in Engineering; Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering Preferred
- Experience: 1-2 years industrial experience in a process or manufacturing plant preferred
