What You’ll Work On
- Evaluate and assess wastewater treatment processes to identify opportunities for optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost savings
- Design and implement process engineering solutions to address challenges such as nutrient removal, odor control, and sludge management
- Perform hydraulic, mass balance, and sizing calculations, including equipment selection for treatment systems and unit processes
- Develop and review engineering documentation, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and technical calculations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—engineers, scientists, and technicians—to deliver solutions that meet operational goals and regulatory requirements
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, startup, and operation, including troubleshooting and process optimization
- Conduct pilot-scale testing and field evaluations to validate performance and support full‑scale implementation
- Stay current on emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and industry best practices, applying new knowledge to improve design and execution
You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in wastewater process engineering, consulting, or a related role
- Demonstrated expertise in wastewater plant operations and treatment processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of wastewater treatment technologies, including activated sludge, biological nutrient removal, filtration, and disinfection
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and discharge requirements, such as EPA regulations and NPDES permits
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to develop innovative, practical solutions
- Strong communication skills to effectively explain technical concepts to internal teams, regulators, and stakeholders
- Arizona Wastewater Certification (Grade 3 or higher)
Work Schedule
This position follows a rotating schedule with coverage required between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday. Team members work four 10‑hour shifts (4x10) per week; however, these shifts may not always be scheduled consecutively.
Current scheduled shift times include:
- 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- 9:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Flexibility is required, as occasional night shift coverage may be needed based on operational demands.
