Plant Yates Maintenance Specialist Sr.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as technical system owner responsible for maintenance strategy, reliability, and long‑term performance of assigned plant systems.
- Develop, execute, and continuously improve preventive and corrective maintenance strategies using equipment history, PM effectiveness, and failure data.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight for maintenance execution, including job scoping, prioritization, planning, scheduling, and weekly work plan coordination.
- Lead or support Root Cause Analyses (RCA ) and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat failures.
- Plan, schedule, and execute forced, planned, and maintenance outages, including scope development, contractor coordination, and execution oversight.
- Coordinate major maintenance, repair, replacement, and capital activities, ensuring adherence to OEM specifications, maintenance procedures, safety requirements, and contract terms.
- Analyze abnormal or critical equipment conditions and develop sound technical solutions that balance reliability, cost, and operational risk.
- Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for assigned systems, providing technical guidance to maintenance personnel based on OEM manuals, specifications, and best practices.
- Manage and track maintenance and outage budgets, providing forecasts and input for labor, materials, services, and capital needs.
- Utilize computerized systems daily (including Maximo, Oracle Cloud, Tableau, OIS, Excel, Safe TK, and Word) to track work execution, material status, costs, and performance.
- Support implementation of Southern Company fleet standards and best practices; evaluate new or rebuilt equipment and stay current with applicable technologies.
- Serve as Contract Administrator for plant contractors and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with Southern Company Maintenance & Modifications Agreement (SCMMA) and all applicable policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in operations and/or maintenance within an electric generating plant or equivalent heavy industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of power plant equipment operation, maintenance methods, and system interactions.
- Prior mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience in power generation systems strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex equipment issues and implement safe, effective, and cost‑conscious technical solutions.
- Working knowledge of Maximo and Oracle strongly preferred; familiarity with Tableau, OIS, CIMS, Excel, Safe TK, and Word preferred.
- Experience with resource planning, system ownership, outage planning,budgeting, or capital project execution is a plus.
- Experience withgas boiler/turbine power generation equipment is beneficial.
- Experience coordinating contractors, plant resources, or leading maintenance crews is highly desirable.
- Strong technical understanding or hands‑on experience with industrial disciplines such as:
+ Precision Measuring and machine alignment
+ Rigging and crane operations (critical lifts)
+ Welding, cutting, and machining concepts.
+ Pump and valve repair.
+ High‑energy piping and boiler maintenance
+ Electrical systems and equipment
