Job Description
This is a casual position: one day during the week and every other weekend. This will also include vacation coverage.
The Patient Services Representativereflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Performs customer service functions in the Home Health Hospice and Private Duty Office. Ensures the highest level of customer service is provided to the patients and company representatives over the phone and in person. Performs business office responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Greets patients as they enter or call the office.
- Obtains required patient information and performs patient registration, including verifying insurance information and collecting co-pays and outstanding balances.
- Obtains and updates patient demographic information, insurance information, other pertinent patient specific information.
- Answers phone and identify the needs of a caller to assist in need or transfer to appropriate office staff.
- Directs and documents patient calls as appropriate.
- Serves as liaison between patient and practice.
- Serves as liaison between physician offices or other outside vendors offices for follow up on patient or departmental needs.
- Provides back-up for scheduling appointments.
- Provides back up for answering calls to the office.
- Performs all aspects of daily work in a manner which contributes to and ensures an environment of patient safety and confidentiality.
- Completes daily reconciliation report to assure charges have been entered correctly
- Files test/procedure/patient reports and results into patient's medical record.
- Liaisons with company representatives to assure correct services are provided.
- Reviews Epic chart making sure consents are within the past 12 months and the insurance card is current.
- Responds to all medical record requests from patients, insurance companies, physician offices, subpoenas, and legal requests per protocol.
- Assist with Epic chart reviews to ensure accuracy of record.
- Requests follow up on orders for patients.
- Collaborate with physicians, providers, vendors
- Reviews and audits invoices or charges to ensure accuracy.
- Requests patient documents needed for departmental requirements and enter in EMR.
- Maintains proper paperwork for admission packets and other office needs.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- One-year prior office or healthcare experience required
Preferred:
- Medical office coding preferred
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Microsoft Office and excel experience
