The Amazon Private Brands (APB) team is building the shared data, workflow, and AI agent platform that powers the next generation of APB products. As a Software Dev Engineer III on the team, you'll own and evolve core platform capabilities — from dynamic data management and task orchestration to AI agent infrastructure built on Amazon Bedrock. You'll work across the full stack, influence technical direction, and partner closely with consuming teams to ensure platform scales to meet the org's needs.
Beyond technical depth, we're looking for someone who operates with high ownership and broad impact. The right candidate doesn't just execute — they identify what needs to be built, align stakeholders, and drive it to completion. They make the engineers around them better and leave the codebase in a better state than they found it.
Key job responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate high-availability backend services in Java on AWS (ECS, RDS, EventBridge, Lambda)
- Own the technical roadmap for one or more platform areas — data management, task lifecycle, or agent infrastructure
- Drive architecture decisions and write design docs that influence how APB teams build on top of platform
- Lead cross-team integrations, defining APIs and contracts that downstream teams depend on
- Mentor junior engineers and raise the technical bar through code reviews, design feedback, and engineering standards
- Partner with product and leadership to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Operate what you build — own your services through on-call, monitoring, and incident response
About the team
The team builds and operates the shared platform that APB teams rely on to move fast. We own the data, task management, and AI agent infrastructure that powers products across the org — so the work we do has broad, direct impact. We're a small, high-ownership team that values technical depth, clear thinking, and building things that last. If you like working on foundational systems that other engineers build on top of, this is the right place.
