Job Description – Meter Helper
Acts as a helper to 1st Class and 2nd Class Meter Repairmen while receiving structured on the job training to progress toward 2nd Class Meter Repairman qualification. Assists with the installation, testing, calibration, and maintenance of gas measurement systems, including field proving, instrument calibration, differential meter testing, spin testing, and monitoring measurement data using systems such as MV90. Supports inventory control of gas measurement equipment and performs required documentation while adhering to company standards, safety practices, and regulatory requirements.
This is a Union position - starting hourly rate is $25.46
Representative Duties and Responsibilities
•Adheres to all Company safety policies and procedures; works effectively with other personnel and exercises good judgment to ensure safe, efficient operations while supporting departmental goals and objectives.
•Demonstrates the ability to operate required equipment, including Company vehicles, field provers, differential testers, and Toughbook computers for work management and documentation.
•Maintains strong interpersonal skills to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; follows verbal and written instructions accurately.
•Communicates clearly and professionally to ensure effective transfer of information.
•Performs required data entry and documentation using Toughbook systems.
•Reports to work on time, fully prepared to perform assigned duties at the designated workstation by the scheduled start of shift.
•Works a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (subject to operational needs).
•Assists with inventory activities, including basic inventory control and asset tracking.
•Performs general maintenance duties and other related tasks assigned by supervision.
Education and Experience:
Required:
• High school diploma or GED
• Basic technical knowledge
• Pass the Company’s DOT physical examination
• Ability to work overtime on an as-needed basis

Skills:
Required:
•Possess or demonstrate the ability to learn basic computer and data entry skills for work management and documentation.
•Mechanical aptitude or mechanical background with the ability to understand and work with tools, equipment, and measurement devices.
•Strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet schedules, and work efficiently with minimal supervision.

• Valid driver’s license
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
•Must be in good physical condition and able to perform work in varying weather conditions, including hot and cold environments.
•Ability to safely lift, carry, and remove equipment weighing up to 40 pounds from company vehicles and transport it to work sites.
