Job Summary
The Financial Reporting - Lead is a key member of the accounting organization, responsible for leading the Company’s external and internal financial reporting process and supporting complex accounting and financial analysis. This role serves as a subject-matter expert and primary coordinator for SEC reporting activities, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all deliverables.
This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, analytical capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced public company environment.
The Financial Reporting - Lead operates with a high degree of autonomy and plays a central role in maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX requirements.
Key Responsibilities
SEC Reporting
- Lead and coordinate the preparation of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and registration statements
- Prepare and review financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements
- Manage reporting timelines and coordinate cross-functional inputs
Financial Close & Management Reporting
- Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules
- Assist in the preparation of management reporting packages and variance analysis
- Provide insights into financial performance and key drivers
Technical Accounting
- Perform and lead research on complex accounting matters and new accounting standards
- Draft and review technical accounting memos
- Evaluate and implement new accounting pronouncements and assess business impacts
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for accounting guidance across the organization
Financial Analysis & Complex Accounting Areas
- Lead preparation and review of key accounting areas, including:
- Earnings per share (EPS)
- Stock-based compensation
- Impairment analyses
- Other significant estimates and complex transactions
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of supporting documentation and analysis
Financial Close & Management Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules
- Oversee management reporting packages and perform variance analysis
- Provide insights into financial results and key performance drivers
Audit Coordination
- Serve as a primary point of contact for auditors on reporting-related matters
- Coordinate audit deliverables and support requests for both internal and external audits
- Review schedules and documentation prior to submission
Policies, Procedures & Internal Controls
- Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures
- Lead efforts to document, enhance, and maintain internal controls over financial reporting
- Partner with internal audit to support SOX compliance, including control testing and remediation
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
- Lead reporting timelines and act as the “quarter-end close quarterback”
- Drive process improvements, automation, and standardization within the financial reporting function
Investor Relations Support
- Review and validate financial data used in investor presentations, earnings releases, and external communications
- Ensure consistency across all externally reported financial information
Special Projects & Ad Hoc Reporting
- Assist with preparation of Audit Committee and Board of Directors materials
- Support bank reporting, compliance requirements, and certifications
- Participate in forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis processes
- Support merger and acquisition activities, including purchase accounting and integration efforts
- Lead or support special projects and ad hoc requests across the finance organization
Education And Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- CPA certification (required or strongly preferred)
- 4-6 years of relevant experience (public accounting and/or public company reporting preferred)
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- Experience with financial reporting systems and ERP platforms
- Experience with Workiva preferred
