AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
The Sr. Technical Program Manager drives the at-scale global implementation of the newest generations of data center electrical products and electrical distribution infrastructure technologies from concept through deployment. Just as critically, the Sr. TPM is the drum beat for product engineering and design and for New Product Introduction (NPI) into at-scale manufacturing facilities — synchronizing engineering, design, qualification, and manufacturing readiness so products transition smoothly from development into high-volume global production. This role provides a unique opportunity to engage with advanced infrastructure solutions and the exceptional people that develop them. Electrical Products and Services (EPS) within AWS Data Center Engineering designs, qualifies, manufactures, and deploys the standardized electrical products that distribute power throughout our data centers at hyperscale. Our team owns the low-voltage power distribution path from the electrical room to the rack. We productize this infrastructure to standardize and optimize power distribution package, automation, and footprint, qualify it with our suppliers, introduce it into at-scale manufacturing, , and deploy and sustain it across the global fleet (AMER, EMEA, and APAC), driving continuous generational improvements in cost, capacity, and reliability along the way.
Amazon's vision is to be the world's most customer-centric company, and this role is key to that vision. These technologies are essential for meeting our customers' expectations for service and value and meeting Amazon's goals for efficiency, speed, and reliability as we continue expanding our data centers at hyper-scale speed. We are a smart team of doers who work passionately to apply advances in data center technology. You should be comfortable driving execution in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment, and delivering results, while demonstrating leadership, technical competence, and a bias for action.
As an ideal candidate, you:
· Are passionate about understanding customers' and stakeholders' needs
· Have passion for program delivery, infrastructure execution, and low voltage products
· Are great at solving problems and removing blockers
· Have the ability to manage multiple programs/projects at different stages while staying organized
· Earn trust and build relationships with different stakeholders (e.g., Engineering, Product Development, Finance, Operations)
· Are comfortable addressing and resolving ambiguity
· Recognize and appreciate diversity of thought and perspectives
Each day you will interact with different teams responsible for engineering, product development, finance, integration, and operation of these complex technology programs. You prioritize your activities to keep programs on track, identify and resolve problems and blockers, and focus on the actions that are most impactful for delivery success.
This role requires travel of 20%+ to manufacturing facilities, AWS engineering hubs, data center sites, and supplier locations to drive NPI, qualification, and at-scale deployment.
We have an immediate opening for a Sr. Technical Program Manager in Northern Virginia, Austin, and Columbus. Seattle is a fourth and less-preferred option. If you meet these qualifications, exude passion, and enjoy the challenge of innovative projects at hyper-scale size, this job is for you!
Key job responsibilities
· Lead the cross-functional programs that design, develop, launch, and support LV power distribution, monitoring, and switching products (e.g. UL891) with $1B+ USD annual production, owning the end-to-end schedule, scope, and execution.
· Set the cadence for product engineering and design teams, driving NPI milestones and introduction into at-scale manufacturing facilities, and ensuring manufacturing readiness, qualification, and ramp targets are met.
· Engage with internal and external teams and partners to align program requirements, dependencies, and delivery commitments against rack and DC design roadmaps.
· Build detailed program plans, defining milestones, deliverables, and success criteria across engineering, qualification, and deployment workstreams.
· Coordinate between multiple teams to manage interdependencies, sequence critical path work, and secure the budget and resources required to execute product roadmaps on time.
· Identify, communicate, and mitigate program risks and blockers, and report technical status, trade-offs, and escalations to Sr. Management.
· Own and drive the complete delivery lifecycle from program kickoff through implementation, wide-scale deployment, and eventual deprecation, ensuring quality and operational readiness at each phase.
· Work independently in a high-pressure environment with all levels of leadership and exercise sound judgment where clear guidelines may not exist.
