Region Services Corporate Infrastructure (RSCI) is looking for an experienced Tech Lead; Windows Client Systems Engineer with a deep knowledge of Windows desktop services, including virtual desktops and infrastructure.
Our mission is to deliver robust, highly available, and easy to use services to our internal customers in support of the Amazon Dedicated Cloud for U.S. Government customers. We are looking for a motivated Lead Engineer to drive team initiatives and to deliver results for our customers.
This is a hands-on position where your daily role will maintain and enhance existing services, including Windows build / deployment capabilities, fulfilling requests for application packaging / deployment and break / fix scenarios for all technologies the team manages. This role will work closely with the Security Compliance team to ensure security compliance with all desktop environments.

A successful Lead Tech Operations Engineer will drive the design and implementation of new services, find ways to improve and automate our existing services, and provide escalation and mentoring for junior team members.
This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.
Key job responsibilities
This role oversees deployment, configuration, and management of core ADC services, including directory services, file and print, DNS/DHCP, application servers and management of server/workstation hardware and infrastructure.
This role will drive team initiatives across the Vector vertical and across Region Services and partner with Vector Security, Amazon Security, and other AWS internal business units.
In the first six to twelve months you will:
- Design, create, adapt and improve operations management systems and processes to accommodate rapid and increasing growth in systems and traffic
- Drive expedient resolution and root cause analysis for critical issues affecting your services
- Mentor and develop a team of Operational Engineers with an emphasis on providing dial tone services
- Lead the development and delivery of state of the art system health monitoring, diagnostics, repair, and other self-healing automation
- Develop automation tools and processes that reduce manual effort and increase overall efficiency
- Innovate and drive improvements in monitoring and visualization of system health, status of maintenance tasks, and reporting systems
