Amazon has a rich and diverse ecommerce business that spans beyond shopping to Pharmacy, Grocery, Prime Video, Devices, and more. But how do help customers discover these products and services while shopping on Amazon? We are looking for a Principal Product Manager - Technical to own the product vision and roadmap for **strategic placement allocation across Amazon's owned-and-operated (O&O) surfaces**. The role demands deep partnership across product management, UX design, engineering, science, and operations. Experience building products for global customers and adapting roadmaps with regional teams is essential. This is high-visibility, high-autonomy work with direct access to senior leaders across Stores.
This role sits at the intersection of content marketing, shopping CX, economics, and the strategic businesses across Stores. Success means strategic content lands in the right context for the right customer. The framework you build will govern billions of impressions per year and inform Amazon's broader thinking on how O&O and paid media compose at scale.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the product vision, multi-year roadmap, and execution for strategic placement allocation, from short run schedulers to long term dynamic content ranking.
- Drive content valuation: align program owners on imputed KPI values, replace assumed valuations with empirical estimates where measurement supports it, and build the simulation tooling leadership needs to adjudicate disputes with data rather than judgment.
- Partner with ranking science teams to specify the integration that lets valuations flow into algorithmic selection, replacing manual scheduling with optimized value-based placement across all O&O surfaces.
- Operate as the connective tissue between the strategic businesses (Pharmacy, Grocery, Prime Video, Devices, AHS, One Medical, Stores) and the platform teams (Percolate, Homepage, Marketing). Translate program goals into KPI definitions, conversion measurement plans, and valuation inputs the system can act on.
- Set the bar for valuation transparency, auditability, and incentive alignment. Programs should be rewarded for improving conversion, not for consuming impressions.
- Influence and align senior stakeholders (Director and VP) across multiple orgs; raise tradeoffs clearly and drive crisp decisions.
