Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable broadband connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From households to small businesses, schools, hospitals, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve communities and organizations operating in places without dependable internet access.

The Network Development Manager (NDM) leads the Terrestrial Networking (TNT) team responsible for designing, building, and operating the ground-infrastructure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) backbone network that connects ground sites — Gateway (GGW) and Telemetry, Tracking & Command (TT&C) sites — to AWS. This leader owns the strategy, delivery, and operational health of terrestrial network connectivity: site network architecture, Direct Connect / backbone integration, device fleet (routing, switching, encryption), and the automation that scales it across regions. They manage a team of network development and systems-development engineers, partner across ground, control-plane, and security organizations, and are accountable for the availability, security, and capacity of the terrestrial network that carries customer and command traffic.
Export Control Requirement
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
Lead the Terrestrial Networking (TNT) team that designs, builds, and operates the ground-infrastructure network connecting Ground Gateway (GGW) and Telemetry, Tracking & Command (TT&C) sites, including connectivity into Amazon Web Services (AWS).
1. Hire, develop, and retain Network Development and Systems Development Engineers; set goals, give feedback, and own team planning and roadmap execution across Operating Plan (OP1/OP2) cycles, including sustainable on-call health.
2. Drive ground-site network design and buildout (routing, switching, redundancy, and encryption such as Media Access Control Security and Internet Protocol Security).
3. Own AWS Direct Connect (DX) and backbone integration — Direct Connect Gateways, Virtual Interfaces, Internet Protocol Address Management, and Autonomous System Number / Border Gateway Protocol routing — plus region expansion and new-site turn-up through automation.
4. Review and approve network designs, change plans, and capacity decisions.
5. Own availability, performance, and security of the terrestrial network; define Service Level Objectives, lead high-severity incident response, and drive Correction of Error follow-ups.
6. Partner with ground infrastructure, control-plane, security, and AWS networking teams; represent TNT in design and Operational Readiness Reviews and leadership reporting.
7. Manage vendor, hardware, and capacity planning with supply and site-deployment teams.
