AWS Network Product Development (NPD) is responsible for designing the router platforms and network operating systems that power AWS data centers. In other words, we engineer the fastest routers in the world for the largest cloud network on the planet—all within our state-of-the-art network engineering labs.
We are seeking a highly motivated, best-in-class Network Technician to join our growing team. You will collaborate with a diverse group of world-class engineers, technicians, and technical program managers to support the innovation and development of AWS’s next-generation networking technologies.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of networking, including:
Racking and stacking network hardware, cabling and fiber validation for high-speed connectivity,
configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), VLANs, and subnetting, building testbeds, designing networks, and managing large-scale deployments. Beyond hands-on technical work, you will help refine operational procedures, develop new tools, and drive continuous improvements. Network Technicians play a critical role in optimizing lab infrastructure, ensuring seamless test environments, and pushing the boundaries of network engineering.

Key job responsibilities
- Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflow.
- Collaborate with various stake holders to remove project obstacles.
- Maintain lab stability by triaging testbed failures.
- Troubleshoot networking, routing and inter connectivity issues, including troubleshooting of network device configuration and low to mid-level application interaction.
- Troubleshooting cabling infrastructure connectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords.
- Specifying Power and Cooling requirements and ensuring Hardware Racking/Stacking completed for new equipment.
- Participate in the migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
A day in the life
A typical day involves:
- Maintaining the lab via automated health checks. - You will identify why testbeds failed these checks and perform necessary triage.
- Building of testbeds for increased test capacity, next generation platforms that power AWS, and one-off customer requests.
- Support of our remote networking labs.
- You are encouraged to implement mechanisms and streamline processes to improve lab workflows.
