This job may be filled at Exempt Level 3-6 depending on the skills/experience of applicant. This position is responsible for assisting with and/or administering programs that ensure compliance with land related environmental laws, regulations, and permit requirements (RCRA, CERCLA, Used Oil, PCBs, etc.); providing training and presentations on environmental compliance; interpreting regulations; providing guidance and support to affected customers both internal and external; preparing permit applications and/or reports when needed; conducting and interpreting studies and field investigations; determining compliance status; developing and coordinating compliance programs and plans across multiple departments; and interfacing with regulatory agencies.
This position will be responsible for compliance with solid and hazardous waste compliance requirements with respect to generation and transmission and distribution facilities and processes. The successful candidate will work closely with generation and transmission staff to efficiently review procedures and processes with respect to hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal. In addition, they will provide training to staff to ensure the facilities are complying with all applicable land environmental regulations.
Job Requirements and Skills
Applicants must have the following job knowledge and skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology or other relevant field.
- Experience obtaining permits and/or consulting with environmental regulatory agencies.
- Experience organizing, planning, prioritizing and tracking multiple projects.
- Results oriented and proactive in maintaining compliance with all environmental laws and regulations.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with regulatory agency personnel and with internal customers.
- Ability to communicate environmental requirements and compliance information to customers and staff as well as through formal and informal training.
- Ability to develop environmental compliance strategies, policies, procedures, and guidelines for new regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and computer skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
