WORK LOCATION
- This position will be located in Birmingham, AL
- This position will require a mix of both field and office work.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the development, maintenance, and reporting of engineering, procurement, and construction cost data for assigned projects.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- College diploma or university degree in engineering (from an ABET accredited college or university), technical, or business field or minimum 5 years relevant experience required.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years working directly in project controls/project management/construction management highly preferred.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment required.
- Experience performing cost tracking and analysis on large EPC projects (engineering, procurement and construction) highly preferred.
- Experience using Maximo, Oracle, Contruent, and other associated cost tracking tools preferred.
Knowledge:
- Above average understanding of project cost tracking / analysis techniques along with knowledge and understanding of project controls methods, procedures, and cost tools.
- Knowledge of construction and engineering productivity/earned value processes.
- Knowledge of project management principles.
- Knowledge of proper change management tracking and implementation.
Skills:
- Excellent computer skills including Maximo, Oracle, and all Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent oral, written, and facilitation skills are essential.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to perform all job requirements with minimal supervision.
- Exhibit ability to work closely with project and construction managers, procurement, and departmental members to ensure consistency and standardization on all projects.
- Innovative learner with ability to bring fresh ideas to the team.
KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project Cost Budgeting, Forecasting, and Analysis: Develop and maintain the project cost data for assigned projects, per the project controls cost management standards and guidelines. Monitor alignment with project scope / schedule and ensure change management has been integrated into the cost tracking tool. Ensure forecasting / budgeting update process is followed and hold vendors / contractors accountable to our cost standards.
- Cost Reporting: Ensure cost reporting requirements are met. Work with the project team to identify and develop project-specific reports as necessary. Ability to discern cost issues and address appropriately and timely.
- Customer Relations: Serves as the cost analyst for assigned projects. Work closely with project teams and customers to ensure cost deliverables meet or exceed expectations. Exhibits ability to work well with project managers, procurement, engineering, construction, project controls, and accounting personnel.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Travel will be at a minimum of 25%, with regular site visits as required.
