RENEWABLE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM MANAGER
The Renewable Development Compliance & Reporting team works collaboratively at 241 Ralph McGill Blvd every Monday – Thursday and telecommutes on Fridays.**
JOB SUMMARY
The Renewable Development Program Manager is responsible for contract compliance, administration and asset management of the Company’s Distributed Generation (“DG”) sized renewable projects. This solutions-based position ensures all contract counterparties are within financial and legal compliance to minimize risk to Georgia Power.
This is accomplished through direct interaction with renewable counterparties to communicate obligations as outlined in their specific long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) or Interconnection Agreement (IA), as well as through quarterly reviews and benchmarks, and coordinating internal / external compliance audits. Compliance responsibilities include, but are not limited to, specific annual and ongoing PPA requirements related to project generation, insurance, and collateral, and resolving onsite technical or billing disputes.
Additionally, this position has responsibility for Renewable Energy Credit (REC) accounting and compliance, maintaining the monthly Renewable Capacity Power Bi dashboard and researching / implementing new technologies that make the team’s operations and processes more effective and efficient.
- Serve as direct point-of-contact for online renewable projects related to technical issues and billing assistance, as well as required contract communications.
- Support and partner with Distributed Generation implementation teams for consistent contract compliance requirements and enhancements.
- Work closely with Renewable Development teammates and other internal Georgia Power teams, such as the Generation Procurement, Resource Planning and Treasury teams to ensure accuracy of PPA contract data for internal and external reporting.
- Work directly with internal and external legal counsel to develop fair and consistent practices and procedures that help renewable counterparties remain in compliance as outlined in their program PPA.
- Play significant role in support of the Company’s Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) initiatives through the development of new PPA programs and PPAs, responding to data requests and the development of witness preparation documents related to GPC’s renewable procurement programs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business highly preferred; additional consideration for master’s degree and industry certifications.
- Experience in analytical and/or project management roles; preference for individuals with analysis, contract management, and customer-facing backgrounds.
- Prior experience in two or more of the following areas: renewable development, pricing and rates, generation procurement / system planning, legal, power delivery (T&D), corporate sales/marketing, energy efficiency or accounting, finance, treasury (AFT).
- Demonstrated experience working across multiple organizations to achieve effective outcomes.
- Experience communicating complex ideas to audiences with varying levels of understanding.
- Prior experience working with renewable systems or programs, regulatory processes and/or in a compliance/ contract management role, preferred.
- Experience with regulatory filings (IRP, Rate Case), certification filings and/or compliance filings with the Georgia PSC or other regulatory agency.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated problem solving / analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Advanced knowledge of Georgia Power’s renewable programs helpful.
- Understands the impact that successful reporting has on public perception and the regulatory treatment of Georgia Power Company.
- Strong project management skills, work ethic and drive to deliver high quality results in a timely and organized manner.
- Desire for process design and improvement.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point, PowerAutomate and/or PowerBI.
- Ability to communicate with internal partners, customers and other stakeholders at all levels of leadership.
- Working knowledge of, or the ability to learn, the Company’s CSS billing system and associated reporting tools.
