Database Architect
This position is a unique blend of both broad and deep technical expertise as well as overall leadership of one or more database platforms.
The position is responsible for the products, architecture, and standards that ensure Database Services can build and support high quality databases. This position must build and maintain strong relationships with other TO departments as well as with customers, peers, staff, and vendors.
The Database Architect works closely with key infrastructure and engineering partners to design a strategic database technology vision and roadmap. Significant coordination is also required with development and infrastructure support groups for operating system upgrades, software upgrades, migrations, and hardware replacements.
The Database Architect serves as the lead for all Database Security initiatives and projects.
The Database Architect develops standards and processes and provides guidance for Database Services staff members.
The Database Architect serves as a department point person when new projects or technologies are brought in across TO.
For operational issues, the Database Architect serves as a technical escalation point and plays a key role during critical situations by coordinating and facilitating cross-functional troubleshooting and problem solving.
The Database Architect is responsible for proactively performing research on innovative database technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, Total Cost of Ownership opportunities, and procurement efforts.
This position will be based in Atlanta, GA / Birmingham, AL
Job Experience & Education :
- Bachelor or Master Degree required.
- Technical management or team leadership experience
- 10-15 years of SQL Server Database Administration experience
- Experience with application development and delivery as well as selection, procurement and integration of third-party package and custom technology products.
- Experience with Database Security solutions and implementations (Data Masking, Database activity monitoring, Data Encryption)
- Expert level knowledge of the SQL Server DBMS technologies
- Expert level knowledge of SQL Server database architectures that includes clustering, storage, HA and DR; able to design scalable database infrastructure.
- Knowledge of supporting databases in the Azure cloud platform
- Knowledge of data migration, modeling, integration, warehousing, and design.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, competitive information technology organization, spanning various disciplines including applications, infrastructure and business support roles.
