Microgrid Engineer

You will focus on designing, developing, and advancing DER projects across our business and with stakeholders to enhance grid reliability or support stakeholder resilience needs. What You'll Do
- Lead Project Development: Lead efforts to design and advance DER projects; ensure projects are designed to meet key objectives and stakeholders are engaged throughout the process.
- Provide Technical Support: Offer technical leadership and expertise to support Georgia Power and Southern Company's growth in DER projects and technologies, with a focus on BESS and Microgrid solutions.
- Contribute to Strategy: Provide input to future integrated resource plans (IRP), DER strategies, and interconnection policies.
- Engage with Industry: Participate in relevant industry committees and working groups.
- Navigate Regulations: Read, interpret, and communicate policies, procedures, regulatory proceedings, and legal agreements.
- Support Project Management : Following project design, support project management to ensure the project is successfully implemented and goals are met.
- Support Project Interconnections: Provide support for interconnection projects, coordinating across business functions.
What You'll Bring Education
- Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering preferred).
- Desired: Professional Engineer (PE) license, advanced Engineering Degrees, or relevant industry certifications.
Experience
- Essential: Experience in planning, design, engineering, operations, or maintenance of electric transmission or distribution systems.
- Highly Preferred: Specific experience with DERS, including BESS, Microgrid technologies, or the generator interconnection process.

Location & Flexibility
This role is based in our Atlanta, GA office at 241 Ralph McGill Boulevard with in-office expectations. Some travel to potential sites or external events will be required.
