As a Reliability Engineering Manager within the Data Center Engineering team, you will manage a team of reliability engineers that provides full life-cycle reliability support to AWS Data Center critical infrastructure equipment from design through maintenance and End of Life. Your team will be the ‘go to’ reliability engineering resource for your region when product performance expertise is needed.
Each day you will interact with teams responsible for all aspects of the data center equipment lifecycle. You will prioritize your activities to support data center availability focusing on the actions that are most impactful. You will have the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally.

Key job responsibilities

As a Reliability Engineering Manager, you will be leading projects to ensure the reliability of infra equipment deployed to fit AWS data centers to meet ever-evolving customer needs as we continue expanding. As an ideal candidate you:
- Possess strong engineering and technical judgement and are able to provide recommendations despite uncertainty
- Are detail- and data-oriented
- Have experience managing reliability improvement projects and leveraging vendors.
- Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Commissioning, Construction, Procurement, and Engineering)
- Open to travel 25% of the time
- Lead a Reliability engineering team leading reliability initiatives for New Product Development and product sustaining activities.
- Define and lead execution initiatives to improve the success of new product development. Own and drive reliability test planning and logistics.
- Own and drive communication with customers and executive team on product qualification status
- Hire employees that demonstrate Amazon Leadership Principles. Manage team and individual performance, including promotions.
- Make trade-offs on competing business needs using high judgement. Influence strategic direction of the team. Influence roadmaps of other teams that overlap in business or technical domains.
- Identify areas of growth for the team. Identifying resource requirements and gaps. Establish a clear growth plan and development strategy for each team member.
- Work directly with partner teams to implement new and improve existing processes and procedures, within their region and propagate globally where necessary. Drive strategic communication, provides a technical strategy with limited guidance within their assigned Region.
- Identify risks and complexity to unblock engineers and partner teams. Make trade-offs: short-term team needs and long-term business needs. Know how to scope a program. Discern which features are essential, or can be triaged or omitted.
