Job Title: Site Financial Operations Manager
Overview: The Site Financial Operations Manager will provide leadership and strategic direction in accounting, budgeting, management reporting, cost control, and financial decision-making to support the operations and maintenance budget at Southern Nuclear’ s Plant Farley. Reporting to Corporate, this role may also serve as a key member of Farley’s senior leadership team, supporting the Site Vice President.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- Proven ability in breaking down barriers, forming relationships, and building effective teams through team building and development.
- Minimum of five years of experience in financial and accounting disciplines, including financial planning and analysis, managerial reporting, and budgeting. Preferably 7-10 years of experience.
- Comprehensive understanding and application of accounting principles.
- Familiarity with the FERC system of accounts, basic public utility operations, and regulatory utility ratemaking concepts is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated excellence in operational accounting, budgeting, and cost control, ideally within nuclear, generation, transmission, distribution, construction, or manufacturing sectors.
- Understanding of the Southern Company business model and Alabama Power ratemaking mechanism is strongly preferred.
- Ability to bring consensus and buy-in among individuals with differing views and agendas.
- Strong influence skills, capable of impacting individuals outside of formal reporting relationships, including peers and senior management.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey information across all organizational levels.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to tactically implement, innovate, and make timely decisions.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and lead teams to produce timely results.
- Experience in utilizing management financial reports to translate complex financial information and trends into concise insights.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide primary oversight for the O&M Budget, ensuring compliance with fleet financial policies, processes, and standards.
- Engage with and provide financial direction to various management levels, including executives, on accounting, budgeting, and other financial matters. Actively participate in Farley’s senior leadership team.
- Oversee the development, approval, and execution of Farley’s O&M budget to ensure regulatory compliance, alignment with strategic objectives, and support from SNC senior leadership.
+ Ensure efficient and effective annual budget development and analysis in line with SNC fleet standards, challenging assumptions as necessary.
+ Ensure budget execution, including cost categorization, aligns with SNC fleet standards.
+ Implement best practices supporting fleet goals, schedules, and processes.
+ Monitor departmental management and accountability for spending, providing meaningful feedback as needed.
- Lead Farley’s O&M cost analysis and monthly re-projection process. Collaborate with the corporate reporting group to develop management reports that facilitate prudent cost-related decisions by Farley’s line organizations.
- Foster a culture of excellence in optimizing station costs in relation to departmental and company strategic plans.
- Utilize tools and relationships to drive strategic and innovative methods to achieve financial goals.
- Prioritize the development of self and team through feedback, development plans, talent profiles, and other tools to emphasize the importance of development.
- Serve as a site and fleet peer to other leaders, offering feedback, best practices, and consultation to enhance the company’s financial performance.
- Prioritize crucial conversations and other communication techniques to align with peer networks, including:
+ SNC cost owner relationships/knowledge
+ Monthly reports and oversight meetings
+ Peer team best practice and more.
