Job Summary
  
  
  
The Supervisor, Telecom (Fiber) position in the Fiber Operations group (Fiber-to-Distribution, Long-Haul Fiber, Legacy Fiber) will have overall responsibility for a team of approximately 8 Fiber Technicians and 2 Fiber Telecom Analysts. The Supervisor provides leadership and influence through active participation in Field and Fiber Operations (FO) activities and leverages business, technical, and consulting resources from across the organization (strategy, engineering, operations) to ensure the timely delivery of effective business solutions.
  
  
  
The Field Operations department provides "hands-on" Technology Organization (TO) field support to a diverse customer base across Southern Company business units. FO's top support priorities include TO infrastructure installation, configuration, troubleshooting, break/fix repair, performance optimization, and documentation activities to ensure 24x7x365 infrastructure reliability in support of key customer groups across critical core business operational functions.

Education Requirements:
  
  
  
  
- Two-year degree in a technology-related field or equivalent military/work experience required.
 
  
- A four-year degree is not required, but preference will be given to candidates with a four-year bachelor's degree or nearing completion in a four-year degree program in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
 
  
  
  
  
  
Experience Requirements:
  
  
  
  
- Minimum of five years of experience in a TO-related field.
 
  
- Working knowledge of TO-related disciplines, including Telecommunications Transport, Data, and Voice networks.
 
  
- Working knowledge of internal business partner operations, including Distribution, Generation, Network Underground, Southern Linc, Southern Telecom, Substations, and Transmission.
 
  
- Working knowledge of external business operations and joint venture partnerships, including AT&T, C-Spire, ComTran, Lumen, Point Broadband, TVA, Uniti, Verizon, Windstream, Zayo, etc.

- Strong customer service, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.
 
  
- Ability to effectively communicate with all customers and TO management levels.

- Collaborates with TO groups to meet business strategies.

Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience as a licensed driver (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license.)
  
  
  
  
  
  
Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
