Planning Team Leader
Description:
The Plant McDonough Planning Team Leader position is responsible for leading the daily planning organization and meticulous planning and scheduling of daily maintenance and any necessary FOMO activities. This position is accountable for team development, technical direction, performance management, optimizing employee productivity, managing resources, managing work priorities, and other related maintenance goals as identified in the plant business plan. This position must be forward thinking, open to seeking efficiencies and improvements utilizing an innovative approach leveraging and applying new technologies to improve plant performance. The Planning Team Leader position will partner with site contractors and facility planning groups to maximize value and productivity in the execution of daily work scopes.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively lead a team of direct reports. Foster an environment of teamwork, self-motivation, open communication, and customer support. Lead a team that provides planning, coordination, scheduling, and execution for daily activities. Demonstrate the ability to achieve business results through individuals and teams across a diverse workgroup.
- Provide coaching through performance management for each member of the team seeking to develop the employees' skills for future opportunities.
- Develop and implement a detailed four-week maintenance plan utilizing Enterprise Solutions tools. Provide effective planning, scheduling, and execution of daily activities for plant maintenance and labor rate contractors.
- Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) to trend and measure the effectiveness of maintenance planning processes. Ensure key performance indicators for outage planning are met. Provide metrics reporting of planning efficiency to management.
- Be the plant technical resource for Enterprise Solutions tools and provide support (Maximo, Tableau, Primavera P6, and CIMs).
- Lead efforts to continuously improve maintenance strategies.
- The management of Temporary Modifications, Force/Maintenance Outages (FOMO), and Critical Issues Lists. These critical processes shall follow a structure that ensures timely identification, evaluation, approval, and execution of each item, with defined ownership, documentation, and review steps to maintain plant reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and oversee O&M and capital budgets.
- At times, this position requires on-call duty and the ability to change work schedules on minimal notice. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and night shifts as needed.
Education and Work Experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years of power generation and or related industry experience is required.
- Operations, Maintenance, and/or Planning experience are highly preferred.
- Experience in relevant roles such as a system engineer, system owner, planner, coordinator, or team leader is preferred.
- Understanding of plant equipment, systems, and operations is preferred.
- Experience in multiple Southern Company generating plants, operating companies, and or departments is considered a plus.
- Outage and project management experience is preferred.
- Experience in developing, tracking, and managing budgets is preferred.
- Supervisory experience, including performance management, is preferred.
- Additional degrees or certifications are preferred.
- Thorough understanding and demonstrated experience in the use of Maximo, Tableau, Excel, Primavera P6, and CIMs for daily and outage planning is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of contract administration and Southern Company's policies regarding contractors is preferred.
