Position Summary
Are you a visionary leader ready to shape a complex, multi-campus supply chain network? As Director, Asset Protection, you will provide enterprise-level leadership for asset protection across our Distribution & Transportation (D&T) network, guiding 14 site Asset Protection Leaders and influencing more than 450 third-party security professionals.
In this high-visibility role, you will design and execute proactive security strategies that safeguard multi-million-dollar assets, protect our people, and strengthen operational integrity. You'll partner closely with regional and site leadership, legal teams, and external agencies to mitigate risk, prevent loss, and foster a culture of safety and accountability. You'll also serve as a key voice in global asset protection strategy, shaping policies, deploying advanced technologies, and driving continuous improvement across the enterprise.
What You'll Do & Deliver
Strategic Leadership & Governance
• Set the vision and direction for asset protection across a multi-campus network, aligning enterprise security systems, policies, and processes.
• Serve as the Global Asset Protection and LAG representative, influencing companywide standards and global policy development.
• Provide governance and oversight to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to corporate security standards.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
• Lead, coach, and develop a geographically dispersed team of salaried asset protection leaders.
• Indirectly oversee 450+ 3PL security personnel, ensuring consistent execution and performance.
• Build organizational strength through training, mentorship, succession planning, and leadership development.
Risk Management, Compliance & Crisis Leadership
• Design and execute strategic asset protection plans aligned with business growth and safety priorities.
• Lead investigations, crisis management, and emergency response-including civil unrest and high-risk incidents.
• Represent D&T in legal proceedings, depositions, and hearings with authority and professionalism.
Stakeholder Influence & Enterprise Partnerships
• Build strong relationships with senior leaders, law enforcement, and city officials to advance security priorities and mitigate risk.
• Act as the field leader for major security projects and technology deployments, ensuring training, validation, and accountability.
Financial & Operational Accountability
• Own and manage controllable expense budgets across sites, including shrink, liability, payroll, and security spend.
• Deliver trend analysis and reporting to support regional financial performance and loss-prevention initiatives.
• Review and validate critical operational processes impacting inventory accuracy and in-stock performance.
Data-Driven Strategy & Continuous Improvement
• Analyze shrink and security data to identify trends, root causes, and emerging risk exposure.
• Partner with site leadership to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement plans.
• Leverage analytics to strengthen asset protection strategies and operational efficiency.
What We're Looking For
Experience & Education
• Bachelor's degree (required); Master's degree (preferred)
• 10+ years of asset protection experience in distribution, retail, or a professional environment
• 7-10 years of multi-site asset protection leadership experience
• Certified interview and interrogation training (Wicklander-Zulawski or Reed)
• Demonstrated experience analyzing P&Ls, exception reports, and operational metrics
• LPC or LPQ certification (preferred)
Knowledge & Expertise
• Enterprise asset protection strategy, physical security systems, compliance, and risk management
• Financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L analysis
• Cross-functional understanding of supply chain operations, legal processes, and corporate governance
• Human relations expertise with the ability to influence senior leaders and external authorities
Skills & Abilities
• Proven leader of large, multi-site teams with responsibility for talent development and succession planning
• Strategic and analytical thinker with expertise in root cause analysis and long-term risk mitigation
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-influence skills
• Technical proficiency in investigations, compliance, and physical security systems (CCTV, EAS)
• Strong judgment and autonomy in high-stakes decision-making
• Resilient crisis leader with experience managing emergencies and civil unrest
• Accountability for protecting multi-million-dollar assets across a complex network
Other Requirements
• Approximately 50% travel across the network (scheduled and incident-driven)
• Ability to work in warehouse environments with temperatures from -5°F to 90°F and around powered industrial equipment
