Brief Job Overview/Summary
Reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations, the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement and Philanthropy will strengthen alumni and student engagement in support of University Advancement’s overall goals and strategy. The Associate Director will cultivate relationships with young alumni (graduates of the past 10 years), student leaders, and volunteers to drive participation in engagement and annual giving programs, including building the Young Alumni level of the Stockton Society. Partnering closely with colleagues across campus, this position will enhance engagement strategies that lead to measurable outcomes.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary liaison to the Young Alumni Club, providing support and guidance in drafting annual goals, developing programs and engagement opportunities, and coordinating targeted fundraising outreach and other communications
- Lead efforts to grow Young Alumni giving through targeted solicitations, events, and communications designed to increase Stockton Society membership
- Serve as advisor to the Student Alumni Association ambassadors. Guide the group in setting annual goals for membership recruitment and professional development, providing training, strategic direction, and support resulting in members engaging fellow students and alumni in meaningful ways
- Lead efforts to build a culture of philanthropy among current students, including managing the Senior Class Gift campaign, student involvement in Ospreys Give, and related initiatives
- Manage a portfolio of leadership annual giving donors ($1,000–$10,000), cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding renewals and upgrades. Set and achieve annual fundraising benchmarks tied to young alumni and student participation and Stockton Society membership
- Strengthen alumni volunteerism through effective volunteer management, maintaining strong campus partnerships, appropriate data tracking, and stewardship. Identify and properly advertise meaningful opportunities for alumni to give back to Stockton by mentoring students, supporting enrollment efforts, participating in career panels and planning committees, and connecting with students in other valuable ways
- In coordination with Development, manage all aspects of volunteer engagement related to annual giving days and other campaigns. Promote, solicit, train and recognize peer-to-peer advocate volunteers
- Conduct timely and personalized follow-up with donors and event participants to deepen relationships, sustain engagement and encourage continued support
- Record and track all contact activity in the CRM system to ensure accurate reporting and donor pipeline management
- Regular evening and weekend work is required to attend and manage events

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated project management and event planning skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate multiple engagement events and activities with attention to detail, deadlines, and constituent satisfaction
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging diverse constituent groups (students, recent alumni, long-term alumni, community partners, etc.) and collaborating effectively across departments
- Proven ability to develop and implement engagement programs, such as Student Alumni Association activities and Young Alumni initiatives, ensuring measurable outcomes and active participation
- Prior success in managing student-focused alumni programming, including support for student alumni associations (like Stockton’s SAA) and Young Alumni Club initiatives that strengthen lifelong connections
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in higher education, nonprofit management, communications, public relations, or a related field
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in alumni relations, volunteer management, student affairs, advancement, or related engagement/relationship-building roles
- Demonstrated experience in volunteer recruitment, training, and stewardship, including managing volunteer committees or boards and supporting volunteer leadership initiatives
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in higher education administration, educational leadership, nonprofit management, or a closely related field
- Experience with targeted fundraising campaigns and donor engagement strategies, including working with development teams to support prospect identification, cultivation, and stewardship
- Familiarity with alumni engagement technologies and CRM/database systems (such as Ellucian, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar platforms) to track participation, volunteer activity, and campaign results
