What’s the role?
As the Product Design Director for Inventory, you’ll lead the team to address a critical and complex marketplace challenge: helping sellers easily and effectively list their items on Etsy in a way that meets multiple marketplace needs — ensuring that buyers can easily evaluate if an item is right for them, expressing and affirming Etsy's brand, powering search and recommendations algorithms with critical data, and more.
Our sellers range from new makers hoping to reach their first sale, to established businesses who rely on Etsy for their livelihoods. The work of this team is pivotal for millions of creative entrepreneurs and small businesses.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Sr. Director of Product Design, Seller Experience. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and ourcompetitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.
For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What does the day-to-day look like?
Lead with vision: Shape and communicate a clear, inspiring design direction for Listings and Inventory, ensuring your team’s work aligns with Etsy’s goals.
Grow and support your team: Mentor managers and senior designers with empathy and clarity, fostering inclusive, equitable, and people-first leadership.
Champion design quality: Partner with Brand and Design Systems to ensure experiences are consistent, intuitive, and delightful for every seller and buyer.
Collaborate strategically: Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Research leaders to set priorities, align on strategy, and create shared purpose.
Drive impact: Use insights to improve seller satisfaction, listing clarity, and buyer confidence — making every interaction smoother, easier, and more inspiring.

10+ years of experience in product design, with a portfolio demonstrating thoughtful UX, systems thinking, and measurable impact at scale.
4+ years leading design teams, mentoring managers and senior designers with clarity, empathy, and care.
Experience in marketplaces, e-commerce, or large-scale consumer products, guiding teams through complexity with confidence and collaboration.
Deep expertise in human-centered design, design systems, and cross-functional teamwork.
A proven track record of defining and executing strategic design direction that balances user needs, business goals, and long-term vision.
Strong communication and storytelling skills, inspiring action and alignment through clarity, creativity, and a belief in design’s ability to make a positive difference.
