GIS Analyst – Economic Development Engineer
** Please Note: You will be required to be in the office, 4 Days per week, and/or as additionally required @ the Centergy Building, 75 Fifth Street NW, Suite 150, Atlanta, GA
** All potential travel (less than 25%) will be in the state of GA with minimal overnight stay involved.
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide subject matter expertise in Geographic Information Systems to drive our consulting services and serve new business prospects, existing customers, external partners, and communities throughout the state.
We are looking for a GIS Analyst who understands that spatial data is the engine behind Georgia’s Economic Development growth. In this role, you will leverage Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support both traditional civil engineering projects and high-stakes Economic Development initiatives.
You will be responsible for transforming complex spatial datasets into visual narratives that help our communities and prospects make informed investment decisions.
You will provide GIS expertise working with communities in every region of Georgia during the site selection process to identify, develop, and market new industrial parks that will attract new jobs and investments and expand economic opportunities for our communities and their citizens.
You will work with a variety of businesses representing different industries to identify viable industrial sites on which those businesses can be located and set for success in our state.
You will provide GIS and engineering leadership and expertise, as our team provides consulting services to help assess potential locations for new and expanding businesses, you will create GIS driven, Site Maps, Site Assessments, Data Analysis, Site Layouts, 3D Models, and Marketing Material to help envision the future of Georgia’s Economic Development.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
BS in Geographic Information Systems, Civil Engineering, City Planning, Landscape Architecture, with emphasis on land planning, engineering evaluation, real estate development and site design.
A minimum of 4 years of experience in land GIS Analysis.
Project management, communication, and problem-solving skills to identify the critical needs of customers’ land development requirements.
Must be self-motivated and be able to perform both self-directed and team-oriented project work. Must be a strong team player and very supportive of team and customers with sense of urgency to meet deadlines and obligations.
Knowledge of economic and community development concepts is helpful.
Strong computer skills across a wide variety of engineering software, such as (ArcGIS Pro, OpenSite Designer, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Lumion, Adobe Suite of Products and other 3D rendering software,).
Good presentation skills to provide data or information to wide and diverse audiences which may include prospective businesses considering locating in Georgia, community and political leaders, company officers and other engineers
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide GIS expertise and services to Economic Development Project Managers, Region Economic Development Managers, and external partners.
Conduct site or building searches for new and existing business expansions considering a location in Georgia.
Provide engineering design concepts and proposals for new and existing business expansions considering a location in Georgia.
Develop relationships with external economic development partners that result in new business for the company.
Provide and maintain current property information, presentation, and marketing materials to assist GPC, GDEcD, and other statewide developers with best in class building and site information to use with new and existing businesses considering a location in Georgia.
Develop and maintain conceptual engineering designs for industrial and commercial developments through collaboration with external partners and communities.
