Overall leadership and managerial direction for Mississippi Power Company’s General Services Department which includes Facilities Operations, Maintenance and Building Services, New Facilities Construction and Additions, Mail/Courier Services, Print Shop Services, Corporate Conference Services, Copiers/Printer/Fax Machines Services, Janitorial Services, Landscaping, Corporate Signage, Waste Disposal and various auxiliary Corporate Services.
This position includes corporate wide responsibility for all company facilities; interaction, communication, and collaboration with Functional areas; and direct interaction with outside vendors, contractors, city, county, and state officials.
Job Requirements Education
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in at least one of these areas: Architectural Technology; Building Science; or Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate facilities management and/or a strong depth of knowledge in facilities management practices, building construction practices, architectural/engineering principles and practices, building codes, State and Federal laws, and management of auxiliary Corporate Services.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience developing and managing employee performance expectations, accountability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Knowledge/Skills
- Must be able to envision and develop long range strategic plans for MPC’s office buildings.
- Excellent customer relations skills, organizational and analytical/thinking skills for effective evaluation and resolution of problems, effective management of activities related to budgeting, forecasting, and effective monitoring and processing management skills to ensure that information is given to business units in a timely manner for decision making purposes.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Knowledge of Company functional areas outside of General Services and the ability to cope with and solve a multitude of complex problems and challenges.
- Strong managerial skills and in-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations, business controls, theories and practices are required to manage and lead General Services personnel to perform in compliance with Company policies and procedures as well as federal and state laws.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the operations, functions, and procedures of all MPC’s internal clients to effectively serve their unique needs.
- Ability to integrate and apply the principles of business administration to various functions (i.e. facilities management, and conference and mail services) in a matter that supports the company’s strategic objectives.

Major Job Responsibilities:
- Directing activities of department managers/supervisors and staff through effective practice of performance management.
- The successful candidate will be expected to travel throughout the service territory, with travel requirements of up to 50%.
- Developing operating objectives and accountability for the managerial direction of the General Services department in achieving Company objectives and successfully meeting the needs of Company employees.
- Providing leadership and playing an integral role in the development, design & construction of new facilities, as needed, as well as implementing and managing corporate facilities long-term strategy.
- Working closely and effectively communicating with upper management, functional department management, and Company employees and utilizing Our Values and PCL to develop and present viable solutions to address internal clients’ General Service’s needs.
- Directing through department staff an effective maintenance program for all company facilities and auxiliary Corporate Services that will support the Company’s building program and employees’ office needs.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with outside vendors, contractors, city, county, and state officials
- Requires unobstructed availability to actively respond to internal customers and external parties in preparation for, during and after storm events
