Distribution Construction Specialist SR
Reports To : Construction Field Manager for Distribution Construction
This position will be filled at an Exempt level 4 or 5, depending on abilities and experience of the successful candidate.

This position will be responsible for scheduling Distribution Construction projects and overhead contract crews for the state. Office space will be based on where the candidate lives and what’s available in their Distribution Area. This is a statewide position.
JOB SUMMARY
This position will report to the Construction Field Manager for Distribution Construction and will primarily be responsible for the scheduling of our overhead contract crews performing DOT, reliability, special projects and region support work.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Coordinating contract resources to ensure Distribution Construction Achieves Safety Excellence, budgetary needs, productivity, schedules, customer satisfaction and quality goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with our internal customers to properly schedule and plan the allocation of our overhead contract resources around the state. To be effective in this position, the incumbent must work well with and communicate with Engineering, construction coordinators, region leadership, other departments, contract partners, internal and external customers, and the Storm Center. This job may require an alternate work schedule and overnight travel to accomplish the listed responsibilities. The DC Specialist will work closely with the GPC Storm Center to support SOCO’s storm restoration plans. This position will also maintain a list of contract resources that are available for mutual assistance requests from other Utilities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirement:
- High School education or equivalent
Experience Requirements:
- Extensive Distribution engineering and/or construction experience required: maintenance, overhead, and underground construction knowledge.
- Seven Years Distribution Experience.
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel), Distribution Viewer, ARMS, TEAMS, CAMP, CSS, TCMS and JETS preferred.
- Ability to analyze drawings, blueprints, specifications, proposals, and project documentation.
- Demonstrated Safety Excellence.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to manage contractors

- Knowledgeable of the Southern Company Specifications and Distribution Bulletins
- Ability to learn the contracts and enforce them
- Ability to effectively interact face to face with customers (includes Developers, Builders, Communication Companies)

Additional Info
- Work schedule: Monday through Thursday, 4-10-hour workdays. Additional hours may be required for planned and scheduled outages to meet the customer’s needs, which include working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Availability for Storm Duty is required
- Valid Driver’s License is required
