IT Infrastructure Analyst Virtualization Infrastructure
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for engineering, implementing, and supporting virtualization infrastructure, including server hardware platforms, VMware solutions, and related technologies. This is a 7x24x365 support organization and some after-hours work is required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in Information Systems or Computer Science is desired or equivalent work experience
- Strong experience with and knowledge of VMware ESXi and vCenter. Experience with and knowledge of VMware vSAN and VCF Operations is particularly helpful.
- Strong experience with and knowledge of VMware NSX. Experience with and knowledge of VMware Firewall and other vDefend solutions is particularly helpful.
- Strong knowledge with and experience of networking concepts and protocols
- Strong knowledge with and experience of server hardware platforms and components (CPU, memory, disks, storage area networks, BIOS, firmware, and drivers). Experience with and knowledge of Dell hardware is particularly helpful.
- Demonstrated knowledge of scripting for automation using PowerCLI is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of security policies
- Ability to provide support for the implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Windows and/or Linux
- General knowledge of information technologies (those currently used within the system and new technologies)
- Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage priorities/details, meet schedules, and deliver on commitments
- Ability to negotiate with and influence others - internally as well as vendors
- Ability to build relationships and work in a team atmosphere as well as work independently
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- General knowledge of Southern Company's core businesses

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, installation and maintenance of server hardware and ESXi operating system in an enterprise environment
- Design, installation and maintenance of NSX and vDefend solutions in an enterprise environment
- Design, installation and maintenance of system software in an enterprise environment
- Provide second-level support to other areas both within and outside of IT.
- Follow standard processes for hardware and software deployment, project execution, and problem resolution and change management.
- Provide full life-cycle management for servers and system software.
- Diagnose and resolve problems to meet service level expectations.
- Participate in departmental initiatives.
- Communicate progress, problems and best practices to management, leads and teammates.
